Hi everyone! I have been engaged for 3 days, and I can’t believe it took me so long to create a WB account. I discovered WB back in the summer when my new fiance (fiance!!!!!!) and I first started picking out rings. It is so thrilling to be here now as a real bride-to-be
My guy proposed on Saturday evening. We have been dating for 3 years and a few months. I have known for 3 years that he is the man that I want to spend forever with. I have so many big transitions coming up in my life with graduating college, job searching, and now a wedding (wedding!!!!). I could not be more excited. In fact, I’ve barely eaten and only gotten a few hours of sleep since Saturday.
I cannot wait to start planning and to read more of your fabulous posts. Any advice on where to get started with planning would be very much appreciated. Are there any other Bama brides?

Congrats to you! The first thing we did was pick a date. Have you two thought about that, or do you already have it?

Congratulations big time! Like mimosa, we choose a date very quickly – we’re not settled on anything else yet, but a date is really what everything else focuses on so it’s pretty important! Can’t wait to hear more about your planning! Hope you’re enjoying weddingbee so far!

Congrats and welcome….I think the planning checklist on the TheKnot.com was really helpful in telling me what I should be doing and when I should be doing it, so I def recommend that.

Fiance…fiance…fiance. LOL, isn’t awesome to be able to say it? (Doesn’t it just so weird the first few times???)
Anyways, congratulations on your engagement. Like mimosa, the first thing we did was pick a date and book the church. Have fun on the all the early planning and do try to get some sleep!

Thanks everyone! And yes @catlady, it is awesome to say! I am still having trouble believing that I’m actually engaged.
We have not set a date yet. I had no idea that setting one would be so difficult. I would love a fall wedding, but there are several conflicts. Hopefully, we can set one soon. I know I’ll be able to rest easier once we do.
For now, I’m enjoying browsing wedding websites and looking for inspiration!

We let the engagement sink in for a month, then we started thinking about dates we would want. After we make sure it worked with the reception venue and church, we set our date, then started booking venues and vendors.

Congratulations! What an exciting time for you! I second Lillindy’s advice. Enjoy your first month of the engagement… soak up the moment, the joys of calling him your fiance, and sharing the good news with family & friends. Then ease into planning mode.
Welcome to the hive, pennednpapered! I look forward to seeing you around the boards. :o)
