Don’t worry about them! I actually think its smart to upgrade before the wedding. That way the new set will be the one your actually taking your vows with! I could not upgrade my set until 3 years after we married and I felt I had to keep at least the wedding band for sentimentality reasons. Beautiful set BTW!!

You can do whatever you like. There aren’t any rules about things like these; if that’s what you want to do, you can.
Your family will get over it. Don’t pay them any mind.

Hey, if you love it and can afford it, why not! 🙂

Thank you ladies! That’s what I was thinking …. But I’m sure you know once something is said a couple of times you start to actually believe it!

If it were me, I might be more tempted to use the money for the wedding…are you actually planning after 4 years or is a wedding not in your foreseeable future? But, it’s a lovely set!

we have been enagaged for 4 years and we are currently planning. our wedding date is august 16 2014. Our wedding is being completely paid for by my father. So we really are not missing out on anyhting by useing this money to get me a new ring. And we have planing on gettting me a new ring for awhile. it was just nice that is so happened to be a couple months before our wedding. I just dont understand why some people get so rude and snotty about it when it has been something that we have been planning for awhile. Just wondering if other people have gone through the same thing. Or do most people not do this? upgradeing thing after a long engagement.

FutureArchidiacono: You know what would be a nice Idea, to echange the new upgreded “engagement ring” at the actual wedding. I say an upgrade is a nice thing to do since you can afford one now….I say go for it.
