- Wedding: December 2012
Hi Bees… I’ve been stalking the message boards for a month or so but finally thought I would ask the opinion of some brides… My fiance and I are engaged, both in Afghanistan right now. We cannot see each other or spend very much time together unless we are married (against the rules to have overnights or be behind closed doors) and he may getting deployed somewhere else so we want to be secure, we want to elope and not tell anyone, just do it for work reasons and have our “wedding” on our first anniversary next year. It’s destination so I want everyone to have enough notice to get there or else I would throw something together on our next leave. I know some people seem to be outraged about getting eloped then having a wedding later… is it really that bad? We aren’t even registering (destination wedding) and it was already going to be very small (40 guests)… I would hate to tell everyone and not get to actually celebrate in front of close friends and family or as some mentioned, for the excitement to dwindle… which is why I don’t want to tell anyone. Any thoughts? Not sure what to do to solve our problem and still get my romantic special destination wedding. Thanks!
