This is my first post here (long-time stalker :p) and I am SO excited to announce that my boyfriend (now fiance!) proposed in Times Square, New York this past Friday!!
We went up early Friday morning because we were attending New York Comic Con this weekend (we are both huge nerds lol). After a long day of walking around we were on our way back to our hotel and decided to stop at Times Square first as neither of us had been there at night together before to see the lights. He had asked me earlier in the day where my favorite spot was in Times Square which made me a little curious but I decided to ignore it. We found some little stone benches under the New Years Ball to sit down on and take a break from walking before we headed back to the hotel and then to dinner. We chatted and rested for a while and then he finally asked if I was ready to leave to go eat. I said sure and got up, when I turned around he was still sitting down and said “Before we go to dinner, can I ask you something?” At this point I was like “OK. This is it!” But I just said “Yeah?” At which point he kneeled down and simply asked “Will you marry me?” I was so happy and excited all I could stammer out was an “Of course!” He took the ring out of his bag and slid it on my finger and I’ve been staring at it ever since! I was really worried that we would draw a croud what with him kneeling down with a sparkly ring in the middle of Times Square on a Friday night (I would have probably had a heart attack if people had started to crowd around) but luckily no one seemed to notice!
All in all, it was a perfect proposal from the person I love most in the world and what made it even more special was that we were able to have privacy in probably one of the most crowded places on Earth!
The ring is a Canadian diamond from Blue Nile. Specs are: 0.71 carat, E color, VVS2 cut, triple X, in the Cathedral Pave setting and I am IN LOVE. I’ve attached pictures, sorry if they’re huge, be prepared for super-geekery (I did say it happened during Comic Con weekend ;))!
