- Wedding: December 2014
Thursday, August 1st was our 8-month anniversary. SO made dinner reservations at the same restaurant that we had our first date on December 1, 2012. 8 months may not seem like a very long time to some, but when you’ve known each other for 5 years before dating, you fast forward through the 6 months of “getting to know you” 🙂 He worked from the office downtown that day, so it made perfect sense when he asked me to meet him at the restaurant. Little did I know, he had something up his sleeve!
When I arrived at the restaurant, SO was already there. The hostess showed us to our table, a secluded, table-for-two upstairs and away from the noisy bar area. We ordered a couple drinks and chatted about our day. After the server took our dinner order, SO decided we would hang on to our menus and look over the dessert selection. Not even two minutes later, the server returned to our table with a dozen red roses and a small, wrapped gift that appeared to be some type of jewelry. Earrings, maybe?? SO handed me the roses and asked me to set them aside. He, then, handed me his menu to see if I liked any of the desserts he selected. As I opened the menu, he got down on one knee, and as I read the note inside the menu, “Will you marry me?” With a shaky voice, he said my full name, and asked “Will you marry me?” With tears streaming down my face, I nodded and almost screamed, “Yes!!” Too excited to eat dinner, I couldn’t take my eyes off the beautiful piece of jewelry on my left hand. And no, it wasn’t earrings! 🙂
After dinner (and dessert on the house!), we took a few pictures in the nearby square. I called my parents first, who already knew it was coming since SO had called to ask my dad for permission! Then, I called each of my bridesmaids to ask them to be a part of the big day!
No official date has been set, but we’re thinking of December 2014
Can’t stop smiling!!
