I just booked a room at the Sheraton Waikiki Suite.  Going to spend a nice weekend there at the infinity edge pool and bar with the gf ;)  Take her to a nice dinner with a view of waikiki.  Then after all is done, take her back to our room....and the plan begins.....I'm going to see if I can get some wine/champagne for us at the room, but for our first year anniversary dating, my gf gave me a photo album of us and told me to add pictures to it which I never got to.  So I'm going to fill the album up with our most recent times together and trips with a blank page saying proposal....and then pop the question and ring there.

Ok, some advice from WB members.....would it better at the room/balcony or at the beach?  Thanks everyone!

Personally I love the beach :) haha I feel awful saying this but my fiance proposed in our room while we were on vacation and I was obviously over the moon but the beach just seems more romantic to me, especially at sunset. My fiance said the reason he didn't was because he was scared of losing the ring in the sand...soo maybe have a towel on the ground? lol. Good luck though, regardless of which you pick she will be very impressed! :)

I think the balcony.  I don't really like sitting on the beach that much, plus it isn't really private and people could be running around on top of you with frisbees.

I think wherever you feel most comfortable with will be perfect! I think it’s awesome that you are doing all of this planning (and picked such a lovely ring!).

One thing I will say, and certainly don’t mean this to be a “debbie downer” (at all!) is that if your plans change at the last minute, don’t stress. Don’t get too worried with every detail and having a “perfect proposal”. The fact that you love her so much, and she loves you, and that you want to be with her forever is pretty “perfect” already! :)

My FH had a somewhat elaborate plan in mind for the proposal, and when it came down to it, he said he was so nervous about the whole thing he ended up just asking me one morning in bed because he couldn't wait any longer! He had everything planned out – but felt overwhelmed when the time came. It’s a huge decision you’re making, and a great one – but I guess my point is, that if you have to change plans, it certainly won’t be the end of the world.

Movie style proposals look romantic, but they certainly are not necessary to have a great proposal or marriage. Whatever you end up doing will be great, and whatever suits both you and your gf best is what I would think is "better".

BEACH! For sure! I feel like being outside gives the feeling of the world being at your fingertips-- like you're starting a whole new life together and the possibilities are endless! Good luck!! :)

I say balcony as well even though the beach sounds super romantic. You never know what happens on public beaches! How exciting!

Can you see the sunset from your balcony?  If not, I'd think beach at sunset would be the ideal place.

I thought for sure my honey was going to propose to me while we were watching Kilauea drain into the sea on a full moon.  Instead he waited until we were back home in my office on a Saturday night eating pizza.  While our proposal was hilarious and totally Mr. DG, I would have preferred Kilauea (or Mauna Kea, or kayaking near Kona, or...) Well, you get the idea :)

Since you have a suite at the Sheraton, you most likely have both a lanai and an ocean view, I'd say do it there if that's the case.  The Sheraton pools/beach areas can get a little crowded, especially on the weekend.  Overall, just go with the flow and the moment--I'm sure it will be beautiful regardless of which spot you choose to propose :)

I hope the view is spectacular and balcony is great.  I think I want to do it there.  Yes, there could be unkowns with the public beach and I think my gf would prefer a private area as well.  I'll post pics and let you know guys know how it goes.  Thank everyone.  Now on where to dine hehe ;)  Any choices in Waikiki?  I heard the Moana Surfrider has a great spot....as well as Azure in Royal Hawaiian.  Thanks.

I vote for the balcony because I would be afraid to lose the ring in the sand.

I think once you're actually there you'll just know when you find the right spot.  :)  As for the photo album, my hubby did something similar at the end of a scavenger hunt for my proposal, so I love that idea and it will really mean so much to her!

100% BALCONY!!  The view from those rooms is AWESOME!  It's like my favorite hotel! :)  The beach will get crowded and having lived in Waikiki for a year or so and having a night shift at a shop down there, I can't tell you how many times I've seen a guy get down on one knee in the middle of a crowd near the beach.  Not very intimate, IMO.  Plus, if you do it at night, there will be some dim lighting at the Sheraton, just enough to see the beach..

Here's a pic from when we stayed there!

    Um, WOW

Balcony, balcony, balcony! It's more private than a beach. And....no worries about dropping the ring in the sand, lol.

OH my...this is awesome..... Well My fiance didn't propose on the beach...he gave me my PROMISE ring on the beach....He took my to Myrtle Beach SC...I had never seen the ocean before so it was a big deal....while we got our hotel room...put our stuff away..and walk down the the beach...It was sooo beautiful! We were standing in the water (salt water for the first time for me)...and he was fiddling in his pocket....I felt something up and I thought he might propose!! But he didn't...it was a promise ring :) And it was a gorgeous 1/2 carat beauty...........6 months later he proposed with a 1.5 carat beauty.

SO I say beach!!! I remember how nice and special it was.

(sorry for the long story) hehe.
