i don't think it's odd at all. just invite people by word of mouth or evites or what have you. there's no reason why you shouldn't celebrate casually if you want. i say have at it!

Hi Hive!!
This is my first time posting something to the boards, but I need your help. My fiance and I are having a long engagement and will be married next June ( yeah!) and have already been engaged for almost 1 year this Sept. He and I were talking about celebrating this one year mark with some friends in the town where we got engaged with a good ole fashioned Oyster BBQ which is quite popular in Bodega Bay.
My question is: Do you think it is odd that we will host this event? It is not meant to be a formal engagement party but a celebration to mark this special day for us. We did not have a formal engagement party and so I am concerned this will seem odd. He and I didn't want a formal party so this is just our way to help celebrate. What do you think?
