Maybe once you start planning and things are more concrete, you're "what-ifs" will slowly go away.
I don't suffer from that...sorry. Once my head hits the pillow, I'm out. It could quite possibly be my favorite part of the day.
well i havnt even been asked but .are u sure u really wanna get married or even to him.the fact that things are getting serious might be freakng u out.think about it
I get it every so often. Last night linens were keeping me awake (why do they have to be so expensive?!?). Then I had a dream that I wore "business casual" for my wedding. It was a rough sleep night.
So, for me it's totally normal. When I'm stressed or have lots on my mind sleep is hard to come by. I can only expect that it will get worse before it gets better.
Omgosh, sounds like me!!! I went through that when I first got engaged too about a year ago and it last for a few months actually. I was nervous and scared and didnt really think I could pull off the whole wedding planning by myself, but now im 5 mnths away and im so grateful the FI is so helpful with the planning. Alot has happened along the way, with my sister dropping out of being MOH through email and brother being unsupportive, blah blah blah, but when I think of how exciting our wedding day will be, it gives me something to look forward to, especially lying in the hot sun in Jamaica too! I think its pretty normal, I mean, we are experiencing something we've never experienced before in our lives, so as humans we are going to get anxious and scared, try reading a book before bed time, that usually helps for me
oooooh yes. I slept terribly for the first month I was engaged. I think that's when everyone's asking you a million questions about the wedding and for me, I was kind of panicking, thinking "Am I supposed to know all this STUFF!?". (I was also really stressed with other things at the time, too, though). My biggest advice for you is not to worry if you're not sleeping. If you're not sleeping, get up. Get out of bed, go make a list, do something. The longer we spend in bed fretting about how we're not sleeping, the worse the problem gets. And if you really need help, don't hesitate to talk to your doctor!! Check out the thread I started, if you search INSOMNIA, the thread is called Insomnia - Who else suffers? Thankfully my insomnia is gone (whew) and I think a lot of that comes from realizing that planning is stressful, sure, but I am more adjusted to being engaged and now I am EXCITED!! If you need to talk feel free to message me anytime!! Good luck!
haha i'm not even engaged and i have that. even just talking about my maybe one day wedding with my bf and i like in bed until all hours of the morning just dreaming of everything, and making sure everything is perfect.
maybe take something to sleep for now until you start to get into the swing of things?
Whoops thanks for all the replies girls! I must not have subscribed to this thread b/c I thought no one replied! lol. Anyway, it doesn't happy EVERY night, just here and there. And it's def. a mix of excitiement/money/planning/omg i hope I can pull this off type of thing! It's def. important to just sit back and remember what the whole day is goin to be about in the end. I think my problem is that the theater major in me wants to make sure the "show" goes off without a hitch, if that makes sense! Anywho....I just sent the check in for the dep. on our venue today! WOO HOOOOOO :)
Yes! I have been waking up in the middle of the night and my mind then starts racing about wedding plans! I thought I was the only one!
No way Birdie, you're not alone!
Still waiting to hear if they got the check in the mail...come on people!
How long have you been engaged? I couldn't sleep well for a couple months post-engagement... and let's not even talk about the crazy dreams that followed. Welcome to the club!! :)
All of the times I've had insomnia in the last six months have been because I couldn't stop thinking about wedding plans. Some of my best ideas have come in a state of near-sleep!
You're not the only one. Happened to me just last week when my mom called me just before bedtime and asked me a bunch of questions about all the little details of the wedding that we haven't gotten around to yet.... as well as making unreasonably demands. Sometimes, I just want to elope.
haha Im not engaged yet but I get this every once in a while where Im on WB, googling venues, shoes, colors, dresses, ugh its so much fun but then I just lay in bed thinking about everything! So ridic :)
@oracle 2 months, wow. lol Feels a lot longer :oP
@Miss Panna, yeah I tried to make this plan where I cut myself off of wedding stuff like an hour before I tried to go to sleep (blogs, websites, magazines...) but I couldn't. haha! I need to try harder!
I get night insomnia :( But usually due to work stress, not wedding stress!
I get it! That and wedding nightmares! It's not an every night kind of thing but a couple days here and there it gets pretty bad. I imagine in the next few months with the wedding coming up quick it'll happen more and more. I've heard the keeping a note pad and pen next to the bed helps.
I def. need to do that! I had a crazy dream that All of a Sudden!! It was our wedding! And I was like, "Noooo, noooo nothing is like how I wanted it!"
Whew...it was just a dream.....
It happens to most of us. I had a dream before my wedding that my husband didnt show up. Deep breathing... things will happen in their own time.
@lifeinshutters I always have dreams like that ...shock dreams and then I wake up. Usually they are work related (awful! and stressful) and I wake up with a beating heart!
thank goodness they are just dreams :)
Oh goodness, you are not alone!!
I live in Texas, but we're getting married in California in 6 months! I can't tell you how much I haven't been sleeping lately. My whole family lives in CA, but my FH's family lives here... talk about trying to balance everything. It's rough... I won't fall asleep until late, I'll wake up randomly during the middle of the night, then I can't get out of bed in the morning once I do fall asleep! ARGGG!! I'm hoping this will calm down, though, once I get my dress... but that's not going to happen for another month.
Hang in there, doll... I'm right there with you.
<3
hahahahaha I just posted about this.
I was wondering if something was wrong with me after I woke up at 3 a.m., convinced that a hurricane was going to hit South Carolina in September on the day of my wedding. Five minutes later (at 3 a.m.) I shot an email over to my wedding coordinator (bless her heart), asking about what the heck I'm supposed to do if the island is evacuated for a hurricane during the week of my wedding.
I need more alcohol, xanax, ambien, and massages in my life right now.

Does anyone else suffer from major insomnia since being engaged? It's 2:18 am for me right now, and I can't fall asleep! All the "What if's" are going through my head! It was rrreeeeaally bad right after we got engaged. (But part of that might have been from changing time zones...?) Now I have a few bad nights here and there. Am I the only one?
