Does anyone have any good suggestions for engagement session locations in Los Angeles...I would like somewhere by the beach, but I am open to any other suggestions...
I did mine at Union Station, Walt Disney Concert Hall and Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. There is a surprising number of places to take pics at Union Station. PM w/your email address if you want to see my pics.
Swoonie gave some excellent locales you might consider. There's also the ever popular Music Center, Central Library and Angel's Flight in downtown L.A., The rooftop of the Standard Hotel also in downtown L.A., MOCA, or anyone of a dozen cafe's/restaraunts in Malibu, or the Pike or Pine Street Promenade in downtown Long Beach.
You can get some great shots in Santa Monica. There's the 3rd Street Promenade and the Pier (as Swoonie mentioned). But also if you follow Ocean Avenue down to where it meets San Vicente Blvd., there is an awesome jogging/walking path overlooking the beach/ocean. Spectacular views and photo ops!! Have fun!
If you do go to Santa Monica, try to stop by the Getty and/or UCLA campus' quad area where Royce Hall is located. Those are some great sites for beautiful photo backdrops. Have fun!
Palos Verdes is a beautiful backdrop! The photographer I work with has shot some amazing photos there. There's a beach right on the border of PV and San Pedro with stunning coastline views, and a short hike will give you endless (secluded) photo opportunities. PV Cove is also a gorgeous place to shoot.
You have to pay an admission fee to get into the Huntington Library, and technically you're suppose to pay a fee to take wedding pictures, but as long as your photographer doesn't use a tripod of any sort and it's just engagement pictures, you'll be fine. They'll overlook it
