I’m pretty sure July is far too early to send invites out…. unless of course tons of people have to travel to it. I nwhich case ONLY the people travelling should get the invite that early.

I am sending out invites to the wedding by July 1st and I am getting married in november as well.. But I live in B.C Canada and the wedding is in Las Vegas so I need to send them out that quickly. Our engagement party is July 23rd so what I am doing is when I phone my family and friends I am letting them know when the party is and then mentioning when and where the wedding is and telling them invites are to follow. Do you really need to send out invites to the engagement party? Cant you just phone and facebook them?

@missrandirobot: Yes, even if you are skipping it. UNLESS people have to travel.

If half have to travel and half don’t send out half to the folks who need time to plan their travel as for the rest think about it.

You give it to your friend in July, she has FIVE months to lose it, misplace, it forget to RSVP, forgets the date, forgets to RSVP because it’s so far in advance etc. I wouldn’t do it. 2 months is standard.

You should do an email STD (it’s free), have the engagement party in August and send the invites in September.

I would say, wait until after the engagement party to send out invitations to the wedding. 4 months is pretty long for guests to have invitations. They probably won’t even make plans to go until a month beforehand, and that’s if they remember that you mailed them an invitation. Family and close friends will already know your wedding date, and they’re the ones who mark it on their calendar early so nothing will coincide with your wedding date. Hope this helps!

@missrandirobot: I skipped Save the Dates, but I am sending my invitations out two months in advance. Since our wedding is in October, we are mailing invites out in August (everyone is out of town). We are asking that they rsvp by the week of september 1st, so that we don’t have to worry about scrambling at the last minute to get a head count.
