So I really want to have an engagement party BUT all my family and most of the important people who will be invited live away. I can’t be in St. John’s again (home/where they all live) until late August when I’m going home for another friends wedding…
I don’t want to have any ME reltaed wedding things happen while I’m home because I don’t want to take away from her day BUT I really want to have an engagement party. My FH will be home with me, a lot of my family has only met him once…
Can I have the party while I’m home and just not invite the people who are going to the other wedding (there are only a few)? I don’t want to insult anyone by not inviting them….I just don’t know what to do. I REALLY want that party.

I’ll be there for about 10 days. Her wedding is the Saturday (31st) and I’m wondering about having an engagement party the Sunday/Monday (25/26) before. I don’t want anything extravgant but a nice afternoon/evening where everyone can meet my FH again. I’m at that point when a lot of my friends are engaged and there’s always a wedding. (I briefly felt guilty that I got my ring 8 days after another friend, felt like i was stealing her moment). I’m one of those people who always worries about offending people…
I know my other friend isn’t having a shower that week – she didn’t want one but caved and is having it next week at her mom’s request. She doesn’t want a stagette so we’re not throwing her one, we’ll probably take her out for dinner the Thursday or Friday night.

@MsGinkgo: I personally think that’s plenty of time between events. As a guest it’s no biggie, I guess I’d be curious how your friend and her close peeps (mom) etc feel.
