I have a bunch of ideas:

Create a DIY smores bar for dessert with strawberries, milk and dark chocolate, caramel sauce, graham crackers, gingersnaps, peanut butter, bananas, nutella etc.
All of those pictures are great!! I have been collecting ideas for a smores bar too.I looooove those drink dispensers. I have no idea where to find them in Canada :(
We were thinking of putting out like croquet, bocce ball or some games like that that people can just play if they want to.
I was looking at somehting like this to: Party Bingo Just to get people interacting and there could be a prize at the end or something.
I am excited to have my first real wedding thing to plan! I would love to hear some more ideas!!
@xx_ambyrr_xx: I am not sure where you can get them here either :( I would have LOVED to have our engagement party like this but we were doing the etiquette thing and having it within 3 months after our engagement. I would have waited but wanted to be polite. Feh polite. I am having a smores bar at our engagement party... would love to see your ideas!

OMG I have found dispensers!! Not sure if you were looking for them but I found some nice ones at Classic Hostess. Glass, cute, not crazy expensive... and not crazy expensive shipping to Canada.
Yay!
i believe those dispensers are from pottery barn. not cheap, but gorg. i use mine all the time for summer bbqs and parties.

Looking for some input. My FI and I live far away from my parents (we see his family regularly) so we are planning a party this summer when my parents are visiting so everyone can get to know eachother. We plan to invite most of FI's extended family, people from our work and school and a few of my extended family who can make the trip out.
We have booked a cute lodge at a local camping park, with a big BBQ pit, grassy space, playground etc. So we are thnking of doing a lawn party type thing.
I want to make this more special than "just a family get together" but I don't want to over-plan and have people feeling like it is an elementary school field day either.
Any ideas on how to add something special/memorable to our party?
