(Closed) Engagement Party vs. At-Home Reception?

An invitation to the engagement party means that they can expect an invitation to the wedding.  I think you can do it as an at-home reception after the wedding without being gift grabby.  It’s very easy to say “the gift of your presence is more than enough” or something to that effect.

if it were me, I’d do it like a reception. I don’t think it comes across as gift grabby!

You CANNOT invite someone to a shower and not invite them to the wedding. Very, very bad etiquitte! And a shower is still gift grabby because a gift is expected. And it will look even more like a gift grab if you dont invite them to the wedding.

Have an after reception, with a note about not wanting gifts.

@loveandapitbull:  Same thing, E-party = wedding invitation. You might not think that a wedding invitation should follow an e-party, but most people do (and especaily your parents friends).
