Has anyone done an engagement shoot in a studio? we had our engagement photo shoot on saturday in our wedding photographer's studio on a white background.  We had a tiny preview of the photos when he showed us the screen on his camera and they seem to look really good, he is going to giving us a viewing set to music this saturday and i'm really excited about it!

The only thing I regret is not asking the photographer to come out to a location which seems to be quite the norm for brides on this forum.

We're hoping to do ours on location, but I've seen some done in studio, and they can definitely still turn out amazing. Actually, to some extent, it's nice, because the focus is 100% on the couple, instead of on the 'unique' or 'interesting' locale they or their photog found, if that makes sense.

    There's benefit to both. :)

Mine were on location because my photog doesn't have a "studio" space, and he lives about 2 hours away! We were able to meet up at a mutual location and take pics...it turned out great!

We took pictures at the photographer's studio, both in the studio and outdoors.  I really like how our outdoor pictures turned out, although the indoor ones are nice too.  We also used the whole white background on the studio pictures.  Our pictures, both indoor and outdoor were less "candid" and more "staged," which I didn't think I was going to like, but they are actually growing on me.

I agree with daydream... the studio pics were definitely focused on just us, and not so much the scenery outdoors, which was nice for a switch :)  I'm sure yours will turn out great!

90% of the time it's a horrible idea. I've been tinkering around with the idea to actually shoot solo portraits of couples in my studio quickly and then do the rest on location. I've literally never seen a good group shot in a studio though. Just generic to me.

We had ours in a studio and they came out great! I wish they were online so I could show you all. I do like the look of on location ones but our studio shots came out so much better than we expected.

Oh I should mention our one background was like a darker blue and the other was a black and white. We didn't like the look of the all white background. Our photographer also got a bunch of candid pictures of us just fooling around. There is one I love with us looking at eachother laughing. I don't even know where it came from
