We weren’t going to to do them because it would have been an extra $300. FI was wanting them though so I ended up coming across someone who does mini-sessions for $100 for 20 minutes (which was the perfect amount of time for us). We’ve realized we don’t have as many pictures as we will need for part of our wedding and I found an upcoming photog to do a full session for $75. Yeah, in the end I wish we would have gone ahead and done the extra on the package because we are spending close to that as it is but with the way it is, we will be taking e-pics on the day we got engaged, a year later.

Yes, doing engagements does give you the chance to get to know your photographer better.  Also the second round of ours will happen a month before the wedding.

I’m getting them as part of my package with my photog.  I DO think they are nice to do because it gives your photog a chance to interact with you and see how you “behave” in front of the camera.

I’m so happy we had them done since there are few really nice pictures of the two of us together.  A talented friend did them as a gift so cost wasn’t a factor.  They came out gorgeous.

You should totally do them then for all the reasons you just said!!  That prices is reasonable!  We are getting ours done @ the end of this month and I can’t wait!  It was included in our wedding photog package, so that was good!  The photogs said they’ll be doing a slide show at our wedding with the e-pics!  If you want to incorporate them into your wedding somehow, you can use them as your table numbers, thats always a cute idea!

we’re planning on doing one because we’re both shy and nervous about being in front of the camera. i’m thinking working with our photographer before the big day might help that a bit!

I used them for save the dates. That and plus it helps getting to know the photographer before the big day. And the photographer can take a cue from your shots and see what angles never to shoot at on the big day 😉

I think it’s fun to have some nice pictures of you and the fiance in “normal” clothes. Wedding photos are gorgeous, but I like the everday look to e-pics. Most of our existing photos are self taken pics with the camera waaay to close to our faces.

It’s also great from the photographer’s side as well.  The engagement session gives us a chance to interact with you, figure out the most flattering way you photograph, and get you used to the camera. More importantly, it gives us a chance to build a trusting relationship so we are not strangers on one of the most emotional days of your life.  Remember you’re photographers will be there with you throughout your entire day.

There isn’t a time frame to have them done, I’ve done them as far away as two years and others days before the wedding.  We recomend to our clients to pick a location that is meaningful to them and make it more of an experience for the couple, which is nice to add that special element.

Ours come as part of our package and then our photographers turns them into our guestbook at our wedding.

When I  first started looking into photographers and some asked us if we wanted a shoot (extra), I really didn’t see the point. However the more I started looking into it and asking around, the more it it seemed to make sense. I’m not a fan of having my photo taken so this will assist in helping me get used to photographers and our photographers getting to know us. So on our wedding day, it won’t be as if it’s the 1st time I’m seeing them in action. And, after reviewing the engagement pics, they will know what I do and don’t like for the wedding shots. I’m happy we’re having them done.

We are doing them so we can send them out with invites! = ) There are a lot of family members we haven’t seen in forever.

We found someone who will give us an edited disc of all the pics for $40. And they do a great job!!!

We just had our first session last week. It was so much fun!!

We are going to have two sessions – the first was to take some photos to send out with our save the dates (which go out this weekend!!! YAY!) and the second is for the actual wedding. We are having photos at each of the tables where we are holding a blank piece of paper/sign and then we’ll Photoshop in the table numbers.

Our sessions are free since we are using a friend as our photographer. She’s absolutely fantastic and is doing everything at a great price. It defintiely pays to have a fiancé that’s a photographer!! Student photographers and recent grads are a great bargain if you don’t want to pay a lot for a quick session – they’re super creative and their rates are low. I definitely recommend it!
