Oh no! That is so heartbreaking, I’m sorry.

If it makes you feel any better we didn’t have any engagement photos either. We just couldn’t afford it. 🙁

Oh wow I’m so sorry. That is really disappointing, especially bc your fi is gone now. 🙁 I guess on the plus side you do have the few teasers, which is better than nothing. Still really crappy though.

Aw hunny I’m so sorry!  That’s really upsetting.  I hope you got some really good ‘teasers’ :(.  When he gets back, will you try it again?  Even if its right before the wedding.

So sorry to hear about this!  I’m always so paranoid about something like this happening that I keep my files in 2-3 different storage locations 🙁

As a professional [wedding] photographer myself, i back up all images in 2 seperate places before even go to sleep that night. One folder on my external hard drive and i burn a disc of all of the raw images. I also do this with the final edited images as well.

I would definitely request that she do this with your wedding images when the time comes around so that this [or anything similar] does not happen again. I would also suggest she start doing it regularly with her other personal and professional work. I know i would be devistated if I lost everything, so I feel bad that she is going through this.

@hsearle – I was going to say she should take it to another place, barely anything is irretrievable these days. It may cost her a fair chunk of change, but I hope she can get them back!!! I’m glad she’s going somewhere else for a second opinion.

When I need cheering up I usually head for DQ for a Blizzard or buy a cupcake, LOL! Maybe rent a few good movies? Day trip to a cute little town?

Maybe she can take the HD to another computer shop? One that has people who know what they’re doing! Maybe the computer itself has some memory of the pics being added?

Does she still have any files on the camera’s memory card?

I don’t know why it is so expensive, however I do know you have to know crazy details on how to do computer things & tech schools are expensive. I think its just the field. Most things where you need a lot of schooling to learn about it is more expensive. So they charge high hourly rates.

Also, I really hope they recover your files & her portfolio! Sounds like the 1st people she took it to didn’t even try, so there is hope! However, at least you have a few teaser pics, maybe you can use those?
