In Manhattan, there's Bryant Park (you have to apply for a permit, but it's free) and there are gardens in Tudor City (between 1 and 2nd Aves, between 41st Street and 43rd Streeet). Of course, Gramercy Park is nice as well, but you would need access to a key! Have you considered the Seaport? There are so many beautiful cobblestone streets and brick facades. Or the West Village?
here's a post I wrote on possible nyc locations!

Are there any special landmarks or areas that are meaningful to you or your fiance? ie, A first date, first kiss, or meeting place? You can alway start their, and then work your way to a scenic location. As a photographer, I say ANYWHER in NY can make for interesting and beautiful backdrops/additions to engagement photos, There is a park near most landmarks, and how about a ride with some pics on the subway???
have fun!
A few more to add to your list: Cloisters, Times Square, anywhere downtown you can get a view of the Brooklyn Bridge.
I just took my engagement photos and I have to give my amazing photographer a shout out http://www.amberknowles.com/. She is awesome and really affordable. Some of our shots are on there. We took ours on the brooklyn bridge and downtown in the city hall area. We loved it because there were some wonderful old buildings and interesting structures.
My husband and I had our e-pics at Brooklyn Bridge Park, we had both Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as backdrops.
how about fort tryon park? its a secret location of mine but ill share it :) its at the cloisters
West Village area is usually my favorite place to shoot engagement sessions. We just shot a couple images there a couple weeks ago and the weather was great!

I'm getting married in September 2010. My fiance and I are going to do engagement photos in the spring and we are looking for location ideas.
I was originally going to do it by wall st on a cobblestone street but I think I am liking the park idea better now.
Does anyone has any ideas, or a link to their own pictures that I can view? We live in Gramercy so I'd like to stay in Manhattan.
Thanks!
