Hey bees. We are doing our engagement photos this weekend at a local tavern, here is a picture of the space:
I am not 100% on my outfits yet (stay tuned for poll lol) but I am leaning towards neutrals- black leggings and boots, with a white or grey tunic and black blazer or cardigan.
I am wondering what to do with my nails… I mean, it is winter here, lots of snow etc and darker colours look nice in general in this time of year, but our photos are inside, and i want them to look more timeless… ideas? Navy vlue, black, taupe, beige, pink, french…? Help!

@MissLibra: I wouldn’t go dark for nails unless you were going to do it in a red spectrum (like burgandy or something like that, mostly because it’d match the wine!). Other colours like blue, or even black, seem too “trendy” to me to be timeless. That said, I think french manicures are always beautiful!
And the first colour that popped into my head for clothing was purple, though I’m sure you’ve already made up your mind, hahah. It would just look so preeeetty against the woodgrain!

I would go with something neutral, even though I tend to go with reds. I wouldn’t want anything too “look at me” on my nails for photos.

I would do a red or pink. I typically like rich reds that have a little shimmer (like Shellac Masquerade or Red Baroness) but I wore Shellac Hollywood (more of a bright red with shimmer) for my wedding and it was beautiful. I love soft pinks like Shellac Cake Pop but they don’t look good with my skin tone.
Black is too dark for me. Blues tend to look childish, IMO. I don’t typically like purples. French manicure is what I did for my engagement pictures but I really don’t like it anymore. Much prefer a solid color.

I went around and around with this debate for our e-pics and after much research on Pinterest and other related sites, I settled with a very soft light pink – I chose it because it was relatively neutral, timless and feminine – but that’s also my style! Best of luck to you!

@MissLibra: I did a basic Red because I wore all black for my pictures. It looked nice but honestly there was probably only one or two pictures where you could see my hands!

@MissLibra: omg this is my area of expertise, so I have to weigh in! I work for a beauty bar company and am completely nail polish obsessed.
To keep it timeless and beautiful I agree a dark red would keep it current but not overly trendy. Here are my two favourites:
Both of these are OPI so they’re also available in their Gel Colour. I always reccomend Gel Manis for special occasions/when you’ll be photographed – they’re just so much shinier and more flawless!

oops – first one is chick flick cherry, the second is malaga wine, forgot to add those!

I threw up a poll! I normally wear beige-taupe-pink polish because I don’t love dark colours on my nails and I like that it is neutral and goes with anything. Just wondering if I should switch it up for a more “pow” hand in the photos.

@MissLibra: I voted French- goes with everything!

i wore dark red for my engagement photos. i think that it was OPI “glove you so much”. it was pretty, and contrasted against my ridiculously pale skin. i will also be wearing red nails for the wedding.

@MissLibra: I would go with a nuetral. Somethihng like ‘otherwise engaged’ by OPI.

I think I will stay soft and neutral. Thanks for the input ladies, I will try to take a pic of what I go with 🙂
