Check out Rene Tate Photography. This is a friend of my roommates from High School. She's based in Colorado Springs, but frequently heads up to Denver for shoots. I'm not entirely sure of her pricing, but her pictures are gorgeous! FI would have used her for our wedding photography if we were getting married in Colorado (we are going back to WI for the wedding).
I recommend Josh Gold with Gold Photography. I've done some portfolio work with him and I know he also does engagements and weddings. He does beautiful work and is a super nice guy too. I'm sure his prices are reasonable as well. Good luck in your quest.
We are working with Brinton Studios. We have our engagement session done in May. Here is a link to his blog.
Weddingwire has recs. We are in Fort Collins and using Adore Photography, but she hasn't done our pics yet so I can't say too much. She said it would be $125.
I know this original post was posted four months ago, but wanted to sing the praises of our photographer for others who might find this thread.

We love his work. We've hired him for our summer wedding. We had our engagement session with him a few days ago and had so much fun. He loves what he does and it shows. We haven't seen the results, but if the photos on his site are any indication, they're going to be great.
Update:
Gino did great work: both at our engagement session and at our wedding! We'd use him again and we'd recommend him to anyone who likes his style.
We used Blurb.com to create a guest book out of the engagement photos. The book is awesome and it's great to have comments from our friends and family all over the pages. Some people even wrote on top of the photos (not just in the white space), which I love.

We are getting married in Iowa, where I'm from, and I'm so excited about a good friend of mine who is also an incredibly talented professional photographer doing our pics! But he's really busy and we'd prefer not to pay for him to come out and do our engagement pics...SO we are looking locally for options.
I've looked website to website but I'm wondering if you ladies have any recommendations for engagement photos in the Denver area? We are looking to stay very reasonable with prices on the engagement pics, but do want them to be fairly nice.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
