We had pictures done both outdoors and in the studio. We had thought we had a preference for outdoor pictures, and we did like those a lot (and ended up ordering outdoor shots for the portraits we gave our families) but the studio portraits turned out very nice also. They had a little more formal feel to them. I think most photographers will do a mix (on-location and studio) in the same session if you want to be able to compare.
It all really depends on what you want. While the photo-journalistic style that gets posted a lot on this website is really nice, we wanted something more formal.

Has anyone done engagement pictures in a studio?
Is that just a weird scenario?
Thanks!
