Hopefully some of you fashion conscious bees can help me out, as I’m seriously lacking in that department! We are going to have our engagement pictures done in the next month or so and I’m trying to get a jump start on figuring out what I’m going to wear so I can get my outfits together and then figure out what FI should wear. I was thinking of doing two different outfits and we are going to get the pictures done at the beach, probably in two different photo locations, one actually on the beach and one either in a garden or a military fort where there are lots of beach trees and such.
Anyway! I would love some ideas on what I should do with my outfits, I was thinking of wearing this white dress that I wore in a friend’s wedding (at her request, I wasn’t the guest who showed up unprovoked in a lacy white dress, haha) with the same boots and a brown belt instead of the coral sash:
I have two belt options, one is about the same width as the sash and one is a more thin (about 1/4 inch thick), they’re both brown, braided leather look. Which option would you go with, or would you say to skip the belt entirely? My only worries with this dress is that it might be too short, my family isn’t very conservative but my FI’s parents are a bit more conservative. That said, they know me and I have worn similar length dresses/shorts around them before.
Our wedding colors are tan, coral and navy so I was going to try to incorporate some of the colors into my other outfit. I was thinking either another (more formal) dress in either navy or coral with a statement necklace in the opposite color. Or I was considering doing skinny fitting white ankle crop pants with a blouse in either navy or coral and, again, a statement necklace in the opposite color. Either outfit I was thinking of doing nude heels with it. My only worry with the pants is that I have big hips/thighs and I don’t love showing them off, so I worry it might accent that too much, but I do want a dressier feel for the other outfit… My other question is where to shop for the other outfit pieces. I normally love Modcloth, but I can’t find anything I like there right now, any other suggestions for a similar website?

Love the dress! The only thing I would be careful on is the heels are too tall then to me the dress would look way short, but with boots it looks great. I don’t know where you live, but I shop at local boutiques and look up some on Facebook. Alot of my nice dressy clothes I won in giveaways, bc I like entering and I tend to win one every couple of months or I look for sales 🙂 My fiancé and me went to the beach back in April and had beach pics made (we weren’t engaged yet) we were told white or black shirts would look good, but I decided to wear teal bc it would look good with the water also they said big prints don’t look good lol I didn’t listen! I loved my pictures!
If you look up ideas for stuff to wear for engagement pics on Pinterest it gives u some ideas and pointers 🙂 I’ll be using them for pics myself in a few months. Sorry so long! Good luck!

Have you tried Ruche? They have a similar aesthetic to Modcloth.

That dress is pretty with the belt, but I think the boots would look out of place on the beach so maybe consider other shoes. You could wear that coral belt with the dress and then buy a pair of coral sandals or wedges for the same pop of color.

I think a formal navy dress would be very flattering instead of doing the white pants. I recently found renttherunway.com and they have amazing dresses you can rent to wear just for your engagement photos if you want! I vote for dresses overall since they’re so feminine and look dressier if that’s what you’re going for.

carolinabelle: The navy dress is very cute but also very similar in style to the white dress.

I like the navy dress bc it is modest and the scallop detail. Have you thought about something with a pattern to the dress? I love the skinny jeans and blOuse for a more causal look
