We are getting our engagement pictures taken tomorrow and I’m so nervous! I haven’t had professional pictures taken since I was a child, so does anyone have any tips? How should I do my makeup? I heard it’s best to wear more than normal because editing can wash the face out. I’m worried the photographer is going to say “act normal” and we won’t know what to do! Haha 🙂

I was so nervous about my engagement session, but ended up having a blast. Our pics ended up getting featured on a major wedding blog: http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/2012/10/11/cooking-at-home-engagement-session/
I LOVED having an activity to do. But overall here are my tips:
-have an activity to do, even if its just throwing a frisbee at a local park, or a picnic. It will help you and your FH relax.
-Choose bolder clothing than you would wear in real life. Bright colors and accessories look good on people.
-Try to coordinate with your FH. This doesn’t mean matching, but knowing that they will look good together. You can see we had a bright set of outfits and a more subdued natural set (there was another dress in there, but it didn’t get featured)
-Have a spare, cute umbrella! I was so bummed when it was rainy, but then we got some cute shots (some in puddles) b/c I borrowed my friends umbrella that went with the theme.
-As for makeup, I way OVERDID my makeup and you can HARDLY tell! I never wear foundation, powder, eye shadow– only blush and mascara. I actually bought makeup and spray tan for my legs, and I still ended up looking way more natural. My FH even commented on how much makeup I was wearing, but it looks like nothing in the pics.
-Don’t be afraid to speak up if you spy a good shot. I suggested varioius backgrounds like this set of pallets and it ended up being a really cute photo!
Good luck- but guessing by the date they may have already happened? Hopefully some other bees can use this advice 🙂

@carolyn.sp.79: You’re pictures are amazing!! We actually JUST got done with our shoot and I felt so much more relaxed than I thought I would. Our photographer was amazing and we basically laughed the whole time. We did a “theme” shoot, where we put a day bed in the middle of a field and had a pillow fight with feathers everywhere. It was a lot of fun. We also did some typical engagement shots for the paper. But thank you so much for your answer 🙂
