I am getting engagement pictures taken in about a month. I am not good at doing my own makeup. I’ve tried watching youtube videos and they make it seem simple but it never turns out right. I also don’t have the best skin. Breakouts on my chin constantly. No where else. I’ve been using a daily face wash routine but it doesn’t make my chin clear.
Anyways here’s my question: Do you think I could go to a department store or sephora to get my makeup done? I don’t really want to pay for it and I was wondering if they would do this for me. What do you ladies think?

Usually you have to buy at least $50 in makeup at most counters. But, that’s makeup you get to keep and could use for your wedding. Do you have a friend or family member who is good at makeup? I’m sure they would be happy to help you by doing it for you.

You have to buy product to get a little “makeover” at a counter. Have you booked a hair/makeup artist for your wedding day? If you have and haven’t held your trial yet, try to coordinate them for your engagement photos.

You can but you will have to buy some products. I had a makeup artist come to me and do my makeup for my engagement shoot. I did the trial with her and it cost me $30 and that’s dirt cheap considering I live in South Florida. This particular makeup artist does makeup on the side so she charges less. I would recommend you to find someone who does it on the side or somone who is starting out. My skin is prone to major breakouts but this makeup artist did wonders to my skin…my face looked flawless! Check your local board on the WB or check out weddingwire.com or theknot.com. I have found great vendors from both sites since the South Florida section on the WB is pretty much dead.

My wedding is a few months after yours and my FI and I are also planning to do our engagement photo shoot soon (thinking this fall). My MOH will be doing my hair and I will be making an appointment with a make-up artist I’ve been using for special events to do a make-up trial. Kills two birds with one stone … get your trial done and make-up will (hopefully) look flawless for your engagement photo shoot.
