I’m just working on picking out an outfit too. My photographer recommended neutral colors like gray or black, and no prints. She also recommended wearing a skirt or dress because us girls tend to feel prettiest in skirts. And mood definitely shows through in photograph.

I’m still not sure what i’m gonna wear. I guess something comfortable which is me. Probably the best advice is wear something pretty classic, since wearing something trendy will date your photos.

The idea of a dress with high boots sounds nice. I probably wouldn’t pick a color just because its your wedding colors. If you love purple wear purple. Otherwise just pick something simple yet beautiful.

I would pick a color that you feel gorgeous in or an outfit you feel comfortable in. We chose to go casual for our engagement pics … I wore jeans, a v-neck black sweater, and Uggs. Mr. Madtown wore jeans, a green sweater, and brown shoes. We were able to play around in the leaves and lay on the grass without worrying about our clothes, which was just what we wanted!

However, if you’re going for a pretty look instead of a casual look, I’d vote for a wrap dress. They’re always flattering and you could wear your tall boots, too!

I LOVE shooting in downtown! As it’s city and urban, I would def. go with something a bit dressier. Nov. should still be mild enough to get away with a skit or dress (then again it could be 25 or 95 degrees :-). Stay away from loud prints though…..

The main thing, isn’t that it’s your wedding colors, but that it’s YOU. Go with your comfort and style and you’ll never go wrong. High boots and a dress sounds perfect! Don’t forget, if the weather’s too bad there’s the tunnels to duck into. Some of the places (especially if on a weekend when the city is empty) are really neat!

Try to find a cute purple wrap dress!! I really like that idea with boots. Go with solid colors and minimal jewelry. I would also pick a pair of jeans with a plain shirt and cardigan!!

Well, ours were done in the middle of March in the snow, so…lol. We wanted to be comfy & look like us, so jeans & boots it was.

Your intended outfit sounds super cute. I bet you’ll look great 🙂

@MadtownBride: Thank you 🙂 I love your last pic. I wanted something like that; and we attempted, but as you can see from my wet backside in the 2nd pic it didn’t go too well, lol.

We went with three different outfits – they were done in LA, so we went with a “semi-dressy” outfit (like something we would wear to a nice dinner), then changed into a casual outfit (something we would wear to go to the mall or something), and then a more summery-beachy outfit when we had our pics done at the beach.

I think that the more “casual” outfits really were the way to go. So that’s it more like who you would generally see us.

Also, think about your surroundings. If the backdrop is busy (like different buildings, colors, etc) then go with a solid color.

Our first few photos looked really posed, but it didn’t take long for us to get comfortable with our photographers and really be ourselves. Have fun!!
