Hi Melv0802!  Welcome to Weddingbee  Smile

I don’t know that there is any set time, per se, though I know a lot of couples do it soon after their engagements.

Basically if you intend to incorporate e-pics into your Save the Dates, wedding decor, etc., it’s probably better to do it sooner than later.   Do you have a date set yet?  I see you just got engaged last month — congratulations!!!

We just met with the person going our engagement photos. If you live somewhere north it would be fun to do them outside in the fall…playing in the leaves…if you have a dog include them too! We are getting these done in time for christmas to give as gifts. Also people publish them in the local newspapers to announce engagements usually 6-8 months before a wedding…There are a lot of fun things you can do with your photos like Lorienne said. Let me know if you need any ideas.

i’m a photographer myself and the main advice i can give is to be mindful of the weather. i’m not sure where you’re from, but here in texas you’ll most likely look like a sweat monster if you try and have outdoor photos taken! same goes for the winter time…i did a shoot in december and it was the most miserable, chilled to the BONE, 2 hours in the world for both the couple and myself! i personally got engaged last month and will wait for the fall to have my photos done…partially because of the weather, mostly because i am having the hardest time finding a photog that i love!

incase you’re curious, you can see some of my stuff at shannaleighimages.com ๐Ÿ™‚

thank you, and congrats to you, too! i think that would be perfect timing and fall colors would be great for photos ๐Ÿ™‚ you’ll have to post a few after you have them done!

Huh. I haven’t had my e-pics taken and I just got a really cute brown sweater at Ross. This fall setting could be perfect!!!

Any-hoo…we plan on having ours done pretty soon so that we can send them with our invites and put them in our home town newspapers and such. I’m not sure how long it takes to get them back, so it may depend on the photog you pick.

I just took mine a few weeks ago and we’re getting married in May.  They took about three weeks to be finished.

I did them because my fiance moved to MN and I’m finishing my last semester of school in IL and it was the last time we’d be in town where our photographer is.

And I want to get our Save the Dates sent out soon and knew I’d be using our epics for them.

So I think it kind of just depends.

We were moving, so we took ours at 10 months out, as my FI and I weren’t sure when we’d be back in FL where your photog/venue/etc is. I think we probably did ours a bit early, but it was what worked out best for us!
