Just like the title says! Trying to help a friend find a beautiful ring, $500 or less. Only thing is, it needs to be a diamond.
ETA: He’s now stated that it doesn’t HAVE to be a diamond, but would needa to resemble a diamond, and cannot be a CZ.
post away! 😉 pictures/links would be extremely helpful.

@sariibear: how about a .25 ct round from blue nile, with a plain setting? What shape does she want? And does she like solitares or she wants sidestones?

@sariibear: I’d try Esty, eBay, Amazon, Walmart, and department stores. There are lots of nice rings in that price range!

Yes, i have posted a couple topics that involved the actions of others. I am glad i didn’t receive any backlash like that, but I have seen it in other posts.

@Astra: thank you! I wish I coupd get a better picture. This stone is seriously amazing. I am pretty surprised! Lol.
@Imhishesmine: I know right!!! Thats okay, this stone will make a really pretty necklace if I do. ;P

@TrueLove407: that sounds nice! I know she loves solitaires with side accents, but that may not be feasible. As for cut, I know she dislikes pear shaped diamonds, but other than that, I think she’s open To anything!

Check overstock.com… there’s a lot under $699. If he can stretch into the 600s, there’s a much larger selection.

With a $500 budget my first choice would be this ring from Moissaniteco.com It’s a .75 carat moissanite in a 14k gold bezel for $489. I prefer the yellow gold verision, which is what showing a picture of, but it comes in rose and white gold too. There are other solitaire settings on the site too with options under $500, but this one is my fave. http://www.moissaniteco.com/petite-bezel-round-brilliant-moissanite-solitaire-ring-p-16394.html
Another option would be a used diamond ring. I love this one from DiamondBistro.com for $500. I think that anniversary rings or eternity bands as engagement rings are so elegant, especially when paired with a plain wedding band after the wedding. http://diamondbistro.com/category/216/Natural-Diamond-Center/listings/35486/5-stone-wedding-or-anniversary-band.html
Here is another pretty one from DiamondBistro.com. It’s a princess cut stone that’s around 1/2 carat on yellow gold for $425 http://diamondbistro.com/category/216/Natural-Diamond-Center/listings/34092/Lovestory-YG-princess-diamond-ring-wphotos.html
I am actually tempted to get this next ring myself lol! I found it on Etsy’s Vintage section and it’s a really pretty cluster style ring on yellow gold for $300. http://www.etsy.com/listing/166606186/14k-yellow-gold-diamond-ring?ref=sr_gallery_26&ga_search_query=diamond+ring&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_max=500&ga_page=4&ga_search_type=vintage

Oh, and there’s pmpeii3.com, they have some options under $500. Their diamonds are lower quality, but for the price they’re OK and some people really do not notice.
This one is pretty , $449

My local pawn shop has scads of solitaire for $250 – $300. They looked to me to be around .25 to .30 c.
They were almost all in yellow gold, though, but I live in an urban area where yellow gold never went out of fashion.
There are fabulously charming rings on ebay, vintage and antiques, for $500 and under.
$500 is entirely do-able. He should get an idea of what she likes, though.
I personally would NOT go “new” at this price and really, may never buy a “new” ring for myself.

@SunflowerGarden: your wedding band is gorgeous.
But no to that cluster ring! Not for an engagement ring. That is, unless the bride has stated a liking of them.
