So I am totally new to WeddingBee; first post! Yay! 🙂
I have been with my now fiancé for almost seven years, (I’m only 19 now, but we’ve both known where this was going for a longggggg time) and we’ve started making wedding plans! I’m not a real materialistic person, but he is intent on giving me my dream day. We are nowhere near rich, so we are stretching our engagement to have time to save money.
Recently my fiancé lost his job, and we took out money from my ring fund to pay bills. I’m not that upset, but he’s freaking out. Any advice on how to handle this and reassure him? Anyone else have ring drama?
Any feedback helps! Thanks!

@hiimnat4: Hi there, and welcome to Weddingbee! Here are my two cents: real life comes first, and being able to pay the bills should be your first priority! If that means putting off your dream wedding day by a little while, or not quite spending as much, that is all okay! You two are getting married because you love each other, and you should both hold onto that! 🙂 Hope that helps a bit!

It happens! I’d reassure him that he’ll find something new soon, and that you have plenty of time to buy the ring and get married!

Glad to hear you’re not upset about it! Just remind him that it’s more important to you that bills are paid!

Thank you so much!
We had a money talk this morning and set our priorities in order.
As irratating as it is, you are so right. Life comes first.
Hes still a little sad about it, but now he knows I’m ok. 🙂
