Just registered here and I am looking for a little help. I am planning on proposing to my long-time girlfriend in about 2 weeks but just wanted a little advice from everybody. I gave my girlfriend a promise ring about 2 years ago and upsized a little bit on it. I went in with something really small in mind but came out with something a little different. Anyways, as you can see in the pictures, the promise ring is a halo setting with 4 small stones making up the center. I think with the sidestones included, the promise ring is about .65 carat. The ring I just purchased and planned to propose with to my girlfriend is a 1.02 carat radiant cut set on an infinity twist ring. However, since it does not have the halo setting, it looks about the same size, if not a little bit smaller than the promise ring. I saw the diamond alone and it looked bigger to me than it does now that it’s set. I wanted the engagement ring to stand out from the promise ring and be easily recognized as a larger diamond. I just feel that the engagement ring doesn’t stand out enough from the promise ring. So my question is, what do you think? Is the engagement ring different enough to stand out from the promise ring? Or does it not stand out enough and I should consider a different diamond/setting?
Promise ring on top and engagement ring on bottom.
Thanks for any help!

I think it’s great! It’s obviously a high quality ring, more substantial. Good luck! I’m sure she’ll love it!

It doesn’t need to be a huge overall size difference, the radiance from that center diamond in the ering is much different that the look of the promise ring, which is obviously not the same ring. I’d say its like the ring grew up! Not bigger, but in maturity.

It is beautiful! If you are still unsure about it, maybe look into adding a halo around the engagement ring diamond? It would still match the setting, and it would make it look larger, and it would “tie into” the promise ring you gave her too!

It definitely stands out. There’s a big difference between the way a big diamond sparkles and the way 4 little diamonds sparkle – not to mention the halo doesn’t *really* make the diamond look bigger if you’re not looking at it from far away. The engagement ring is beautiful and will definitely be a step up. Just look at the light difference in those two rings if you don’t believe me!
Good job and congrats!

The engagement ring looks amazing. I like that there are similar elements in both, since that pretty much guarentees she will love the ering.
