I am absolutely in love with the classic Tiffany setting..the classic engagment ring, but it is so expensive and I would never let my So pay that much for a freaking hunk of metal and diamond....I never bothered to look at the other rings on their site not labeled engagement and of course found some beauties...so is it safe to say that lots of couples especially now are ditching the "engagement" ring and getting just any ring to propose?

By “Tiffany” setting, do you mean the 6 prong (right word?), with a round cut diamond? If so, there are lots of places that carry that style, besides Tiffanys. That’s what my ring is like, and trust me, it did not come from Tiffany’s lol

(Sorry if this isn’t what you were looking for, I have heard the 6 prong, round cut style called the “Tiffany” style, but could be wrong).

i know miss scissors has a bangin ring from Tiffany's that didn't come from the engagment section.

I'm not sure about any old ring to propose, but I have noticed on the site and in person that people are getting their rings from interesting places and using less traditional stones!

My e-ring didn't come from the engagement section of the store. It's criss-crossed and has a row of 7 tiny diamonds that make it all shiny... Fell in love right when I saw it!
Of course we couldn't find any band to go with it, and I didn't want the trouble of going the custom made route... So I now wear the e-ring on my right hand, and we bought a delicate set for my ring finger. No regrets!

If you love the classic setting, you can definitely get that same ring for less. You are truly paying for the Tiffany's name - a diamond is a diamond. If you find a high quality diamond at another jeweler, and they can set it in a similar setting, it's the same thing!

Shop other jewelers. Some can even replicate designs if they make custom rings. My ring was custom made and my FI got to choose everything just for me and it makes it even more special (and affordable!)
