- Wedding: August 2013
Hello Fellow Bees,
I was told about this site, and just had to check it out, and I really liked it so I decided to sign up and tell my stories (I think my family is getting sick of them) of our pre-wedding adventures. A little background first Mr.Rustic and I met in Confirmation class. I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th grade. We started dating when i was a freshman and dated throughout highschool. We broke up when I went to college to become a nurse and he joined the military and left for basic. We thought it would be the best solution (boy where we wrong!) September of 2008 we started talking and reconnecting again. One night he told me “I dont want to live without you anymore, I know you are the one Lyssa, I love you” From that moment on I was..Hook, Line and Sinker (some even believe, I was this before that statement with him). So here is the story!
Mr. Rustic flew in to Wisconsin, June 1st 2013. He was allowed leave from the 1st through the 11th. I had worked it out with my internship with the VA that I would start the second week of his leave instead of the first so I could spend more time with him. The second week of my internship I was working 8-430pm (now this doesnt seem too bad, but i work an hour from my home), so by the time I was getting to Mr. Rustic’s parents house was 530-600pm depending on traffic (yes we have traffic in wisconsin). The last night he was home was June 10th 2013, I was on my way to his parentshouse, I had thrown a straightner, makeup bag, and a dress in my car to change into when I got there because we where planning on going to a classy restaurant (and i didnt feel like going in scrubs). Around 500pm I get a text message saying…”Hun dont go straight to my house, im stuck with my dad at a job with my dad and its like 45min away”. Mr. Rustic kept sending me multiple messages acting really upset saying, ” I really just want to be with you tonight, its our last night together for awhile and id rather be with you then hear.” I offered to pick him up, but he declined saying that he had to help, then i offered to pick up supper so we didnt have to wait for awhile at the restaurant because he told me he wouldnt be home till 7ish. But he declined that as well saying he wanted to treat me.
So….Mr. Rustic finally said, “ill be home around 7pm, ill text you once i get there, you can drive over while im in the shower and once you get here we can leave for the restaurant”. So i said okay. he did text me around 7pm, and of course I did not leave right away, i was playing with my hair, i pretty sure i was on facebook, i didnt end up getting there till around 745, because i had stopped at Culvers on my way there to pick up an cookie dough icecream cake that i saw him looking at a couple of days ago (i wanted to surprise him). So I finally get to his house and his parents are in the living room, Mr. Rustic’s mom starts talking to me, actually she distracts me with this silly question and my back is turned, she then proceeds to say that Mr. Rustic is in the bathroom and he’ll be right out. So then after i want to say 2-3min, I had that feeling that someone was behind me.
I turn around and Mr. Rustic is on one knee. He’s holding a red box (but he didnt say anything, hes just holding it there, smiling at me….I’m not going to lie, I was standing there thinking, why, why arent you proposing to me, why arent you talking?..I mean come on just say it…will you marry me?) Well he said nothing, so by impulse i took the box and opened it. In that box was a ugly faux pearl bracelet. I immediately looked at him, stated in a vary harsh tone- “YOU JERK!” and then walked away from him. You see, Mr. Rustic has a sense of humor, and I thought he was just fake proposing to me, and I was quite upset. Then Mr. Rustic said as I was walking away, “Miss Rustic….” I turn around and I see him reach behind his back ( he’s still on one knee) and he pulls out a smaller red box. He then says, (my whole name), I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me? He then holds out the ring, I take it and put it on my finger and hug him. His mom then says—“Did she say yes?” Mr. Rustic then looks at me and says “you never did say yes?” And then I said “Yes!” We have been engaged ever since 6/10/10 and he deployed to Afghanistan three months after in September till October 2011 (longest year of my life). He recently discharged from the military and we bought a house this year 2013! We get married in 48 days! It feels like just yesterday when he proposed!!
