I think anything over a year is a longer engagement. Mine will be 19 months which to me seems reallyy long. There’s nothing wrong with long engagments though.

@sarahroby:  ours is 22 months. now we’re down to 9, felt like an eternity!!!

24 months and above. I actually think 1 to 2 years is average and I don’t consider it to be a ”long” engagement.  I know traditionnally you were marrying within the same year, but today, many couples will put a deposit for their venue 12 to 14 months ahead, so they have to be engaged for at least 1 to 1 1/2 year.

Over a year! And anything under 8 months is a short one!

I think a year and 1/2 to 2 years is considered a long engagement, but it’s also becoming the standard.
So long engagements are standered now.
