I got married on the Amalfi Coast, it is harder to make it personal when you have limited baggage allowance. I did your idea, i used photos of family on their wedding day and hung them around the recpetion venue on the trees with little wooden pegs.

We also had a sort of wishing tree, i used card butterlies (from ebay) and put ribbons on them and people could write messages on and hang them from the lemon tree as we had an outside reception within the lemon grove.

You could, if you hired a car you could buy a few bits from Ikea in Naples (quite near the airport) like lanterns and candles, just to add your own touch. You could name tables after places in England that are special to you – just a few ideas.

if you need a photographer i know i great one – http://www.myphotosbyrenee.com/Events/Weddings she is called Renee and is an American living in Naples.

I have this same issue!  We’re having our wedding in Florence and with 3 plane rides to get there from SC, we can’t bring much in the way of decor.  IE–nothing but place cards and OOT bags.  What can we do about decor??

I am getting married in Greece and have the same issue. I am going to bring fabric to drape, and add flowers and candles from local stores (carrefour is what I am looking for) I am also going to bring labels for water, and favours.

As to honour family, you could load a digitial picture frame (s) and bring them over and do a cute display/slide show.

It is sooo tough!
