    Hi ladies!

I am thinking about having a romantic little saying engraved on the inside of my fiance's ring...I thought it would be adorable to do it as a surprise for him :)

Has anybody done this or have any cute ideas? I was watching a show a few days ago and the bride had the groom's ring engraved with "put back on!" lol. Thought that was hilarious!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

We are going to write what we want in each others rings and not look until after the wedding.  I think it will be fun!  I think I'm going to going with something simple & sweet though.  I haven't quite decided on what though... I need to start thinking!!

We're planning on having the same thing engraved in both of our rings.  We're looking for estate rings, so I'm not sure if it will work out, but ideally we'll put "Yes I said yes I will Yes."  (He proposed with a card with a quote from the end of Joyce's Ulysses.)

So, that's pretty specific, and probably not helpful, but is there some really sweet quote that's important to the two of you?  Something either one of you said when you first started dating or when you got engaged?

    Good luck!

I had "I cross my heart - 6.20.09" in mind.  (Wedding song & date).  But I'm so unsure.  Can't wait to hear other ideas.

We're getting him a new ring because his original came back  XX-YB 07 1809... It was supposed to be 07-18-09 with my initials and his.  My initials were close, but wrong as well.  We were trying to get it like my great aunts which said "AB to RD 10-20-35". He'll use the messed up one as his everyday ring and the new one as his "nice" ring.  I don't know why, but that engraving error cracks me up!

Well DG that simply ups its price making it a "vintage" ring since its date is "1809"!  Lol!

Not sure what I'll want inside, but will come up with something soon.  Been actually thinking about this one.

I'm thinking "to my cricket, love always." nothing too creative, but "cricket" is my nickname for mr. V ever since i was trying to take a nap on vacation in our early-dating days, but was having a hard time because it was TOO quiet. he started making chirping noises like a cricket so i could fall asleep. random, but possibly the cutest thing in the world. and he's been "cricket" ever since!

Thanks so much for all the good suggestions!

Jeska June20- I like the idea of putting something related to our song! Thats a cute one!

mrsv2bee- Thats adorable! We have nicknames with some silly stories behind them too..also a great idea!

The best part about all of these ideas is that they have special meaning to you as a couple :)

    Keep the ideas coming ladies!

I think the "put back on" idea is hysterical! I've been thinking about this a lot lately as well and I'm leaning towards doing "from (my initials) to (his initials), I'm Yours, wedding date"

I'm walking down the aisle to the acoustic version of I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, and we've been listening to that song together for years. It's simple but I think it sums everything up nicely.

I love this idea!  I hadn't really thought about it, but it carries so much emotion.  My parents have called each other bebe (pronounced Bee-bee) as long as they have been together and 37 years later they both have that and their wedding date in their rings.  So sweet.  :)  I'll have to come up with something

I had "Forever & Ever, Amen" and our wedding date engraved in my husband's wedding ring and he had "Babydoll' (my nickname)engraved in mine and our wedding date.  We didn't share until our wedding day and it is such a special touch!

our cake song is "I got you, babe" ... we call each other babe all the time so that could be cute as well, and fitting.  Just throwing out another idea.

    @mrsv2bee - that is really cute :)

I wanted to do "to infinity and beyond" but husband didn't want it so we didn't do anything.

I really like that "put back on" idea so funny my fiance would love it.  But I have been thinking about this too... he used to write me little notes and sign it "I love you and that's all that matters" So I was thinking "our initials and thats all that matters with the date" but that is kinda long now that I type it out.

when my friend married her husband in the marines, she did semper fidelis (always faithful) which is the motto of the marines :) our thing is "only, ever, always" though i may surprise him with "i choo-choo-choose you" (from the simpsons) i also like "i love thee" from the baz lurmahn romeo and juliet. or maybe "come what may" from moulin rouge. it should be something thats romantic but also an inside joke. hope that helps :)

my fiance was in the marines for 4 years so we know that phrase very well lol. He still has a little over a year where they can recall him though and I don't want to jinx anything!

My mom suggested taking something from the wedding vows like...

"<wedding date> All the days of my life"

i think thats very romantic and sentimental :) I might go with that.

The Hubs has "(My Name) to (His Name) 5-17-08" (our wedding date) in his ring. My engagement ring has "(His Name) to (My Name)" and my wedding band has "5-17-08" engraved in it. It was the same thing my parents and grandparents had engraved in their rings!

We have talked about this too and love the idea, not sure what we'd put yet...but I was told by our jeweler that certain metals can't be engraved. So now that brings in new complication...lovely.

Um...I know how weird this sounds, but it is totally us. In my e-ring, I got our wedding date, but in his wedding band it says " two against the world..." and mine says "...you and me." It is line from Planet Terror (a zombie movie), but very fitting. He is into zombies, and I am into him. I thought it was pretty unique and at the heart of it, very true.

Okay, don't know what I am going to do yet but for sure want to do something, here are my thoughts which seem to be a little more sentimental, haha.

Tell me your favorite because I am having a hard time.

    Until death do us part

    For all eternity

    whatever life may bring

    to be my partner

    love and faithfulness

    with no end

    I DO 06.xx.2009

I have 25 characters which includes spaces so if I have room on it I would like to add the date but if not, oh well.  I told the FI that I'm not going to tell him what I choose bc I want it to be a surprise but before I decided that I wanted it to be a surprise I asked him if he wanted the date and he said that would be nice that way he would never forget.  I laughed but then he made sure I knew he was kidding and vowed to remember the date. Haha.

I want to do this too. Thanks for all of the great ideas!!

Keep in mind though, ladies, that if your man has a tungsten or titanium ring it might be hard or impossible to get it engraved. Talk to your jeweler and find out! Mine said that these harder metals are SO durable that they're very difficult and sometimes impossible to get engraved or resized.

I told my FI that I wanted to get his engraved & he asked what I had in mind. He wanted to make sure it wasn't something lame since it is his ring - always ask ladies!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to do YOU ARE LOVED.

It's just a simple reminder & not too sappy.

"Put back on!" is really cute. I think my FI would have gotten a kick out of that. Unfortunately neither one of us could think of anything cute so we will just have blank ones for now. Maybe in a few years we'll think of something nice to say!

We didn't have time (nor did I want to mess with any mishaps) before the wedding to engrave our bands.  So we spent our honeymoon brainstorming about what we wanted to engrave in eachother's bands.
We decided on our wedding date in Roman Numerals.  So it looks like this: XI.XV.MMXIII

I took Latin all through high school, and always loved the language (although when spoken...it's not at all romantic...)

I probably will have a quote from Virgil's Eclogues engraved in his ring.

"Nunc scio quid sit amor" ~ trans: "Now I know what love is"

He's hispanic and would probably prefer Spanish, but my roots don't go that way!

We put his name and our wedding date on my band... then I put my name and our wedding date on his band. (ex. 'Jack~ 6.26.09'   'Jill~ 6.26.09')

Funny story; I have a friend who got married and they went out of the country for their honeymoon. On her passport she hadn't changed her last name- but her oh so brilliant new husband put her new last name on her plane ticket. At customs the officer wouldn't let her through due to the disparity. But they took off their rings which had each others name & date on it- and he let them through.

So that is how we got our idea. =o)

Sparkles - that is funny. poor people.  Thats is a good idea.

I once thought of putting never to fart because we love the movie license to wed and he jus thtought tha tis was funny.  I do not think I could really do that though.  My other ideas was putting his favorite Bible verse on his or one that was important to us both and our relationship.

I originally wanted it to be a surprise, but when I found the right inscription, we had to do it together.  I really wanted a Bible verse as a reminder that the love the God has for is the basis of our love together.

So from Song of Solomon 6:3, his says:  "I am my beloved's 6.27.09" and mine says "my beloved is mine 6.27.09"

We just ordered them so I'm excited to get them back!  Good luck with yours!

Whenever he asks me if I like something and I say "Yes" he says, "Promise, promise?"  I would like to have "Promise, promise." engraved on his ring, but like maryjane said above, I'm having a hard time finding someone who can engrave a Tungsten ring.  Blah.  Maybe I'll have to write a post about that...hmmm....
