I know this has been posted before, but I thought I'd ask again.  We are 2 1/2 months away (eek!) and I would really like to get my FI's band engraved as a surprise.  Rather than just the date, I would like to get a word or two to show how much I love him and to demonstrate the importance of this day.  Any ideas?

Is there something that you too always say to each other?

Do either of you have a stong heritage? You could engrave a particular saying in another language.

There are some creative ladies on this board that have posted some reallygreat ideas.  If you do a search I'm sure you'll find another thread with tons of ideas.

As for me, we just engraved our wedding date but in Roman Numerals.

    XI.XV.MMVIII

I've always liked the line from the Song of Solomon:

"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine".

We have 24-25 character spaces to think of something clever to engrave, and although we haven't been working really hard about it, it has been in the back of our minds. My initial thought was to fill the whole inside of the ring up to say a cute little phrase, which can only be done if we squished it all into one word, no spaces.

But lately, I'm thinking of just having both our names with an & sign and our wedding date. Done properly with spaces, it's already 22 characters. Another thing is to have just initials, the wedding date, and it leaves enough room for another word, like always or forever. Right now, I'm leaning towards just our names with our wedding date. But I have a feeling that'll change a few more times before we get it done =)

    I'm thinking for mine either

    "I love thee X.X.MMX"

    or

    "Today Tomorrow Always X.X.MMX"

but not sure about the second one... whether i should have always or forever??

But i love thee is really nice and it's from Romeo and Juliet... HA and my name is Juliette :) LOL

labbit's post reminded me of a search I did on "poesy rings". There's a bunch of shops with reproductions of old rings with really cool sayings or poems. Which reminds me of something I wanted a very long time ago:

    You and no other.

I think I am going to engrave this into my FI's ring "Love is long- suffering and kind....It bears all things, hopes all things. Love never fails." (Corinthians 13:4-8)
