Ohh...fun!
We decided to do 2 weeks in Greece for our honeymoon. We are doing a week on the "party" island and a week on a more secluded island. I am VERY excited!
We actually chose Greece because FI's parents have a timeshare that only costs us $125.00 per week! Of course we still have to pay airfare and food/drinks/shopping. I have never been to Europe and my FI has been to Greece once and loved it :)
@RahlyRah: That's an amazing deal!!
We got married Oct 09, and flew down to Puerto Rico and did a Caribbean cruise from there. We went to St Thomas, St Kitts, St Lucia, Dominica, Barbados, and Antigua. It was awesome!! There were actually a lot of honeymooners there, and we got pretty friendly with a few of them
We are going to Hawaii! we are leaving right away after the wedding (well monday morning) we will spend 2 days on Ouahu and the remainign 6 on Maui
must dos: snorkeling, surfing, a luau, hiking in the mountains, going to historic sites. and staying bed late
I can't wait!!!
we are going to Couples Tower Isle In Ocho Rios, Jamaica! so excited... will be our first vacation together and first 7 days straight with eachother (LDR). We are leaving the Monday after the wedding! :)
We're waiting for our moon -- its going to be SO HARD TO WAIT!! We want to do Alaska, but they stop doing cruises in Sept, so I have to wait!!!!!!!!! We are going to mini-moon somewhere close to home, but I cannont wait to go!
We are leaving the day after our wedding for Boston. Spending a few days in Boston and then going to New Hampshire and Maine. This is where my FI grew up and I have never been north of New Jersey. We met in my hometown when we were 15 and I'm excited to see where he grew up and all the places he's always talked about from his child. My future in-laws were not pleased with my choice, and tried to get us to go somewhere tropical/exotic because they claim the weather will be bad. We live in Florida and go to the beach all the time, so why would I want to spend my honeymoon doing that? Plus we've both been to the Caribbean and Europe. It's our first time travelling on a plane together and I don't do particularly well with them, I don't want our first trip to be 9 hours of torture for him!
@mshoagie: I live in Orlando, have you thought about going to Sea World or Discovery Cove? I like Disney but Sea World is my favorite park. Their new roller coaster Manta is ah-mazing!
@RahlyRah: no worries! that is an amazing deal! i hope you guys have a wonderful time.
@DaniSue13: unfortunately we will only have a full three days in disney, so a side trip to sea world is not in the cards this time. however, we have both been there pretty recently and do enjoy. new england in the fall is lovely. sure it will be chilly, and maybe you will even see some snow, but like you said you get to see tropical weather and the beach all the time. it will be nice to explore your husbands old stomping grounds.
We are going to Savannah, GA for our mini moon the week after our wedding, and then we're trying to decide where to go for our honeymoon leaving boxing day for 10ish days. Originally we thought we'd go to Australia, NZ, Kenya, something like that, but we decided to save that for when we can go for 2-3 weeks.
I love discussing our honeymoon! We are leaving the day after our wedding and going to Greece (Mykonos and Santorini) for 6 days and then Italy for 2 weeks!
In Greece we plan on relaxing a lot, but also partying a little on Mykonos, and exploring both islands. In Italy, we are going to eat and drink wine, while taking in the gorgeous views! We will do some site seeing as well, but for the most part we chose places that were not as "historical."
We are leaving for the honeymoon right after the reception! I know I've posted it before, but it will be hectic! Our flight leaves at 6:30AM on Sunday the 16th and its a 2 hour drive to the airport....so we have to leave after the reception at like 1:30-2 in the morning! hahahaha We'll leave the sleeping for the plane!
We are going to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica and I absolutely can't wait! I already bought 2 dresses for it! :-)
@chittychittybanebane: we're so similar! we're going to be at CSS and we're also LDR and looking forward to actually spending some time together!
@MsBrewer: i wanna see your dresses!
We are delaying quite a bit. :( I am in grad school and can't take more than a few days off and FI wants to be gone for a good week and a half at least. So we are going on a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise in May after I graduate. We actually have done an Eastern cruise together already but LOVED it and it was an awesome deal so why not? Plus we will spend a couple of days before the cruise in Miami so that will be a nice break from the snow I am sure we will still have here! Must dos: snorkeling, city tour of San Juan, and lots of eating ha ha!
My FH and I are going on a Royal Carribean 7 night Southern Carribean Cruise. We leave November 6th so it's a couple of weeks after our wedding (10/22/11). Our ports of call are San Juan, Puerto Rico; Bridgetown, Barbados; Castries, St. Lucia; St. John's, Antigua; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. We figured this was the best way to go because we get to go tour a lot of places, and do all kinds of fun activites in addition to being on the ship. We have an oceanview balcony and we are on the 8th deck right in the middle of the ship which is perfect. I can't wait:)
We're going on a 7 night Carnival cruise that leaves out of Baltimore which makes it super convenient for us! It goes to Port Canaveral, Florida; Freeport, Bahamas; and Nassau, Bahamas. We are going two weeks after our wedding since it leaves on a Sunday at like 3pm and our wedding is on a Sunday and doesn't start until 2:30! We have a balcony and I can't wait to be doing nothing in the middle of the ocean!
We are still absolutely sure what we are doing. My FI just got a job so we had been delaying deciding what to do. We will probably just take a few days and go to Savannah and take a real honeymoon next year.
Instead of going to Jamaca like we'd planned FI and I decided we would rather stop renting apartments. So instead of a honeymoon, we're building a brand new house on a 3+ acre lot! We're super excited about it! We don't like together now anyway, so a brand new house all to ourselves will pretty much be a honeymoon for us.
I am so looking forward to our honeymoon. We are going on an Eastern Caribbean cruise leaving from Miami and stopping at Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; San Juan, PR; St. Thomas, USVI; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands. I have been on two cruises and love them, FI has never been. We picked a cruise since it is hurricane season and they can generally get you out of the storms. Our plans are snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, eating good food and also a city tour of San Juan.
@STBSchmidt: I bet we are doing the same itinerary! I am really looking forward to the stops.
We're delaying our honeymoon due to my school schedule until February (also, we live in Canada. Any excuse to go somewhere warm in February is a good excuse!). We're going for 5 days to Tenerife, Canary Islands. My dad offered his timeshare for the week, so accomodations are free; we just have to pay for flights and food/shopping. We're still trying to decide if we can take a weekend jaunt to Barcelona.
eeek! :)
Our wedding is on Saturday and we'll be off to go on Honeymoon on Tuesday. We'll be taking 15 days to Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome. I love Paris and that was where he proposed, so we're returning to it for this honeymoon.
We will be sightseeing, planning to have fine dining in Paris and Italy (haven't decided where yet) and shopping in Italy.
Theese all look like really fun and romantic honeymoons!
We're just staying in the Lake District (Uk!) for the week in a really nice holiday cottage, we might go on an abroad holiday latter in the year.
We're going to Jamaica - leaving the Monday after the wedding, coming back the following Sunday. I wanted beaches, and we considered Hawaii, but the travel time/cost were better in Jamaica, plus we got an all-inclusive with Tower Isle. Can't wait!
We're going to fly home from our wedding in Oregon on Monday and leave Wednesday for our honeymoon somewhere in the Caribbean. We still haven't decided where to go... maybe Curacao & Bonaire, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Croix, or Dominican Repulic? As you can see, we haven't really narrowed it down. I'm leaning towards Curacao/Bonaire as they are outside the usual hurricane belt...
Let me know if you have any ideas! :)
Wedding is Saturday, we are leaving to honeymoon on Tuesday. We'll do about 4 days in Napa, then bum around San Francisco a few days, then fly home and hang at home a few days before going back to work.
Gonna try for French Laundry reservations, you can call 2 months out--that's next week, crossing my fingers.
We pondered a billion different ideas. We'd LOVE to go back to Europe, but December isn't a great time for that. We finally settled on Couples Tower Isle last week and placed our deposit down.
I am soooooo excited. Can't wait. We are going to need that vacation!
We are going to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica the Tuesday after the wedding until the following Wednesday....can't wait!
We have changed our minds so many times but for our mini moon we're going to Savannah, GA for a week right after the wedding, and then we're going to book something after the wedding for the honeymoon. Bermuda and Costa Rica are a couple choices.
Originally we were going to do Australia or NZ, but if we did that, we'd be gone for Christmas, and I was a little sad that we'd miss our first Christmas together as a married couple with our families. So we'll leave on Boxing day for a "smaller" trip!
We have finally finalized all of our plans!! Heading to New Zealand South Island for 16 days touring through cities, fjords, wineries, and glaciers. We are planning a combo of hotels, camping, and staying in bed and breakfasts. It is going to be an exhausting 36 hour flight to get there but we cant wait!!!!
We just booked our mini-moon last night. The weekend after our wedding we are heading to Virginia's wine country area near the Shenandoah mountains for a bit of small town relaxation. Our "must do" is a chauffered vineyard-hopping daytrip. Probably a couples massage, too.
We would love to do a bigger trip, but it's the middle of the school year for DS, so we can't just jet off for 2 weeks. Plus we really want to buy a house, and cannot justify taking a big chunk o' money away from our post-downpayment safety net. What if we buy a place and then a tree branch goes through the roof?! I'd rather have peace-of-mind and cash for that repair than a honeymoon and repair bill anxiety. As much as we would love a honeymoon, it's just more responsible for us to save that money.
Greece for 2 wks!!! It's going to be such a reward.. I'm so over planning! Ready to Marry my prince and proceed to undisturbed party-time. I'm getting married the 7th and leave the following week; the 14th. I can't wait!!! Everyone's vacations sound fun ~ enjoy and be safe! :)
We are going to Playa Del Carmen. I'm so excited. I was a little nervous because we did our passports last minute but my FI's passport came yesterday and mine came in today! We are leaving the day after our wedding and staying for 7 days!
We leave Monday morning after the wedding (Saturday) for 7 nights and 8 full days on Maui! I cannot wait! FI just graduated Law School last summer (2010) and since then we have been saving for house/wedding stuff so this is the first time since we have been together when we have the resources to take a trip and enjoy the finer things!
Our "must dos": Golf at Kapalua (I'm a good wife already for allowing this), Road to Hana, Shop in Lahaina, eat amazing food, lounge in the lazy rive and sleep in!!!
Cannot wait for some total relax time with my new husband - wedding planning is just too stressful right now! :)

Enough wedding chat, lets talk about our honeymoons! What did everyone decide on and why? Anyone who has not decided yet? Are you leaving soon after your wedding or are you delaying some? What are some of your must see/eat/stay? Recommendations for others?
FI and I had our heart set on Hawaii until FI lost his job 3 months ago. In response, we’ve decided to delay our honeymoon by one month and travel to Key West and Walt Disney World. It will be FI first time to Key West and I am excited to show him one of my favorite vacation spots. Then, after much needed relaxation and alone time, we will head to WDW. This will be our third trip there as a couple. We went after we got engaged, so we thought it fitting to visit on our Honeymoon. Plus it will be the end of the Food & Wine Festival and the start of the Christmas season. Double score. Interestingly enough, the Disney portion of our trip is going to be a “Group-moon”. FI extended family will be down there and two of my bridesmaids and their husbands have also planned trips at this time. Should be a lot of fun.
Key West must’s for us: Mermaid & Alligator B&B stay. Latitudes & Seven Fish restaurants for romantic dinners. The Butterfly Nature Conservatory and Dry Tortugas for sights.
WDW must’s for us: French Quarter stay. Artist Point for our romantic dinner. And the Mickey’s Christmas Party for sights.
