My parents wouldn’t let me see anything bloody or scary when I was really young but that was pretty much the extent for me personally.

When I have children, I won’t necessarily tell the restaurant to change the channel because of a TV show or movie that my children are probably watching for the sake of being bored at a restaurant but I probably wouldn’t let them watch it at home when the TV is actually their full undivided attention.

I think parents become quite hypocritical telling others, like the restaurants, that their channels are innappropriate for children but will let them watch Grand Theft Auto on Xbox because their dad is playing it.

Kacey23:  Haha…my parents were out-of-this-world overprotective. The number of shows I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid (Power Rangers, the Simpsons, etc) is kinda crazy. I remember in like 5th grade wanting to watch Titanic (It had been out a couple of years and a friend had gotten it on VHS…lol, the 2-VHS set because it was so long), but was told I wasn’t allowed because there was nudity. I was ticked and said something to the effect of, “they’re just boobs. what’ll you do when mine grow, throw away the mirrors?” So, yeah…I can totally see my parents asking for the channel to be changed either for violence or love. 🙂
