What exactly are your criteria for envelopes? The ones I'm using are $12 for a pack of 50. They're very nice, solid color, square flap. $130 seems like a lot of money for 80 envelopes unless there's something really special about them.
Hi ladies! Thank you for your ideas.....i actually thought about the brown bag kind, it would go with my theme (rustic elegance, if that makes sense)....
frugal_faye: i should have been more clear, 130 for 80 outer envelopes, 80 inner envelopes, and 80 RSVP envelopes. Where did you find yours? Does that make the price a little better?
What size envelopes do you need? I had bought my envelopes in packages of 10 at Michaels. I used the coupons on them to get them for pretty cheap. I think they were by Recollections. $130 seems too high.
also, get rid of the inner envelope. Do you really need them? It's just a waste of money in my opinion. I didn't even have RSVP envelopes - I made the RSVPs as postcards instead.
I got 200 kraft paper envelopes (#10 size) for around $30 from Envelope Mall online. I ordered them on Sunday and they were in my hands by Friday. They worked great in my printer and looked fantastic.
lindsey316: I didn't realize you meant 80 sets of envelopes. We're just doing outer envelopes, no inner or rsvp ones. I guess I could see how all of those envelopes might end up to $130.
i've spent the last few hours pricing envelopes and for my needs the cheapest i found was on www.cardsandpockets.com. my invites are square, so coloured square envelopes are 17¢ each and 4 bar reply envelopes are 12¢ each. other sites with good prices were www.paperpresentation.com and www.envelopperinc.com. i hope this helps!
I love you ideas! I think inner envelopes are a waste of money as well, but so many people are like you have to have them it's the wedding ettiquet! As far as I am concerned, I think it's a waste. Ok so now I have more price shopping to do :) I thought 130 was too high as well.
lemondrop: i am going to look at that website now! thanks!
amariem25: i was thinking of doing the postcards as well, i did those for my save the dates through vistaprint and it was so cheap.
@ artbee - I liked the brown paper bag envelopes! at least online. Where you happy with them? Were they sturdy? Do you think they would be good for holding a "booklet" type invite?
I got my envelopes at paper-papers.com
6.5" Square Envelopes 25/pack $5.63/pack
Stardream Metallic - A1 ENVELOPES 25/pack $7.90/pack
I ordered mine from cards and pockets. The total came to just over $20 with shipping for 60 envelopes and 60 RSVP envelopes. I was very happy :)
Signed, Sealed, Delivered (well, almost)
Thank you ladies for all your ideas/help. I ordered my outer envelopes and response cards envelopes today. Came out to just over $30 with shipping. So much better than the $130.
Also, I wanted to tell you all, I hated the idea of the inner envelope but wanted to follow tradition at the same time. But here's the thing, its costly, takes more of your time, and a waste of paper. However, I couldn't just nix the idea all together.
Solution? Went to Michaels yesterday with my 50% off one item coupon and my 20% off entire purchase coupon and found something original and cheap! They have these little antique looking safety pins that have little sayings on them, like memories, and I actually can't remember what the others say, but thats not the point. My point is, I am pinning all 3 cards together and then stuffing them in the outer envelope. So happy that I don't need it and I actually still saved time and money doing this.

Hi bees,
So I have everything pretty much finished.
Designed my invites-check, bought the paper-check, made sure we have enough ink toner in the printer-check, used my coupons and got a spanking good deal on paper at Michaels-you better believe it, check!
Envelopes????? BIG NO. I have been pricing out invitations online for a few weeks now, the best price I have found was $130 plus shipping. Is that about how much you guys paid/will be paying? I am sending out about 80 invitations.
Are there any websites that I may not know about?
Send me your deals!
Thanks!
