I would use the envelopes you got - people keep the invitations and throw out the envelopes so I don't think it is a big deal if the envelope colour is off!
Just remember no one really cares about the little details except you - it stops me from freaking out over the little things!
No one will notice or care that they don't match your colors since they will be tossed in the trash immediately.
I think the heavy cardstock might be too hard to make into envelopes. Even if it works, it will be so time consuming. You could use your time to make a cute DIY project. I am very picky and I think I'd order or buy new envelopes and try to sell the ones that don't match.
Without seeing the difference in colors I can't tell you if I would just use them anyway (probably what I'd do), but do not use the extra paper to make envelopes. It is way too heavy!
Can't do it. Here's a link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36625750@N05/4083904195/
The 3 pieces of paper are parts of my invite and the yellow is the envelope.
I think I'd still just send them. Ember78 is right. They are going to go straight in the trash.
Haha, in my head I know that! But I just can't seem to get over the envelope thing. Being anal about details is bad for wedding planning! I keep all the invitations I receive, often with the envelope, but I'm probably a rare breed. :)
I say keep the ones you bought :) that isn't the part people pay attention to! Pretty small when you step back and look at the larger picture
Use the ones you bought. But if I may suggest, if you do decide to order more or have extra that you are not planning on using, donate them. Give them to a local school or Veterans/nursing home. They are always looking for little extra's like this.
If you can't return them and get ones that are the correct color, then I would just use them! People don't keep the envelope - they only keep the invite!
I think the color of those envelopes is still acceptable. I'd use them if I were you! Or see if the place you bought them from will do an even exchange for a better color. Maybe just stick with white next time!

I ordered envelopes without seeing a sample first (Don't do this!) and it turns out they're way way way the wrong colour. I do however have an extra 200 sheets of 110lb cardstock. Could I make my own envelopes with the heavy cardstock or is it too heavy for envelopes? Should I just suck it up and order more? *sigh*
