I have usually seen one or the other. I was at one large wedding that had the escort cards and a poster map of the reception room that was really nice. I really liked the map, no searching for the bar, buffet, or bathrooms.
The chart is a little easier to read and identify your table as a guest. It is also great to have an attendant assisting near the chart and also for those guest that may have RSVP after the chart was printed and framed.

What do you mean by a chart—a map of where the tables are, or a chart with your name and table number? I’ve never been to a wedding with a seating chart and don’t think they’re necessary if you have escort cards.
@curlyncurvy:It's like this. But I'm doing escort cards and wanted to make sure I didn't need both. Mine is smaller so I don't need a map of the venue.
