I've seen the tree thing done a ton, but it's pretty. The best version I've ever seen was done in this long hallway that lead up to the entrance of the reception and there were like 12 trees and they were HUGE and the cards we're hanging from them. It required a lot of wedding planner staff to do help people find their cards, but it was beautiful. It looked a lot like your second picture, but full size real flowering trees.
ETA: What's your "theme"? That would be helpful to know in coming up with an idea.

Ok, so I think the picture frame idea is lovely, but in my area everyone has done and overdone that option. The last couple weddings that have happened, where many of my guests were invited (well the family portion on one side) - the frame was done. I don't want to do that.
I did see a tree where the escort cards were attached ... is that cool?
What are the best ideas? Thank you. Trying to find a picture of the tree I saw with escort cards attached, I think it was in a book though.
