Escort Cards - Help!

I have spent a crazy amount of time trying to coordinate my escort cards.  Now that I think I have it figured out, I'm trying to figure out how to write our guests' names on the cards? We don't know the last names of some of our guest's dates.  Our wedding is big, but pretty informal, so "Mr. or Mrs" may be too formal.

I've seen some photos of just first names on cards, and/or both the guest and the date's first names on the same card.

Help! What do we do to avoid having to call everyone to get last names?  Can we just say something like "Jamie and Emily" and they'll figure out it's them by the group of people they're sitting with?

What's the protocol?? Wedding in 7 days! Yikes!

I was told to go by how they RSVPed? If you are unsure you can put Mr. So and So and Guest on one card with the table assignment. Given your time limit, this may be the best option.

Yeah, I agree with Fitzly that the best option at this point is probably So and So and Guest. I don't think first names are a great idea with a bigger wedding, since people are accustomed to searching for their name by last names,  so that might create a bit of confusion surrounding the escort card table. For instance, I can right now think of 3 Dougs, 4 Marys, and 4 Bills on my guest list.

I would definitely put last names (keep in mind, you have to arrange them somehow).  If you don't know the guests last name - you could put:

    John Smith and Sue

But, I would put:  John Smith and Guest

Can you just ask your friends what their date's last names are?  Or if you don't have time for that, I'd put Jane Doe and Guest.
