Give them more credit - if they walk in and none of the tables have numbers but instead have pictures, it isn't going to take much thought to figure out that the picture corresponds to their table.
I think most will be able to figure it out,. but if you want to eliminate the guesswork, just frame a little note telling them to find the table that corresponds with the image on their card.

I am making my own escort cards - I have small pieces of wood that were cut from a tree and I am making ornaments out of them. On one side of the wood I am writing the guest's name, and on the other side will be the table where they are sitting.
Here's the tricky part. Instead of using table numbers, I want to put a picture - the picture will also have a corresponding picture on the table so that people can find their table. For example: a guest will be at the maple leaf table - and on the back of their escort card will be a picture of a maple leaf. Then, at the maple leaf table there will be a large block of wood with the same picture of the maple leaf.
I feel like since most people are used to seeing table numbers on their escort cards, they may be thrown off a little by the use of a picture rather than a word or a number. So I was thinking of maybe writing an explanation of what they're seeing and how to find their table. Does that seem like a good idea? Does anyone have an idea for what kind of wording to use? Or am I not giving my guests enough credit and they can figure it out on their own?
