Is it true that you can put your ring in a mug or bowl and use the arm from a espresso machine frother to clean it with steam?

ooohh...now there's an idea!  I LOVE getting my ring steam cleaned.  I'd be curious to know if this works!

I don't see why that wouldn't work--the jeweler just uses a big steam pot to clean with, anyways!  Great idea!

Yes! I called my jeweler to make sure this was okay/safe. I do the same thing with a teapot. Once the water's boiling and steam is coming out, I hold my ring at different angles in the nozzel of steam. I use a hairclip or tweezer because you can burn your fingers. I always soak mine in soapy water first. Espresso steamers, clothing steamers, you name it :)

I did the teapot thing with my white sapphire ring and it worked REALLY WELL!  It's my new favorite way to clean my ring!

I love it because it only uses water, no chemicals and then I drink more tea :)

I would be careful about cleaning any colored-treated gem or anything too delicate (pearls, opals). I just found out I can't use it on my topaz jewelry because it can make the color fade (they are color enhanced.)
