So I rushed the dress decision, and now I'm not happy with the ruched neckline- too poufy! I'm trying to sell it, but I wondered if a seamstress could help me. Maybe sew it in and transform it into a form fitting sweetheart neckline??

Anyone know how much that might run me? I found a gorgeous lace strapless sweetheart at a local bridal shop on sale for $200, so should I just buy that instead? I'd need to get a three point or french bustle altered for that one....

god. budget bride now what have i done? lol!

I think it depends on where you are, but my alterations were about $700 and I didn't have anything major done to my dress- just the sides taken in a little, cups sewn in, and a french bustle. So, based on my experience, I'd say buy the $200 dress and be done. Maybe you should look for a seamstress, though, to get an idea what it would cost where you live.

thanks! I'm trying to weight my options and costs. hoping I can sell the dress, or some of my decor post-wedding, to re-coup some costs too.

hating to waste almost $500 on a dress I won't wear, but I hear stories of brides that lose a lot more on deposits and rougue vendors and such, so if it happens I'l try not to be too hard on myself.

Altering my neckline and taking in was $130 for my one dress. Hemiming and taking in and bustle was $160 on my other. I would say shop around for a seamstress! Then you can do whatever you want! :)
