I’m looking at either a channel set or shared prong wedding band. I like the idea of a full eternity so you’d see diamonds even if it moved around, but I’m thinking of saving money by getting a half eternity band…what are everyone’s thougths?

I wouldn’t get diamonds all the way around. It will cut the cost and no one will see the diamonds anyway. I’m not sure if it is more secure, but I had a ring like that where the stones went all the way around and I ended up losing a few of the stones in it.

I got a half eternity band for my wedding ring. My thought was to a) save money and b) why bother with diamonds no one’s going to see? A friend whose dad is a jeweller agreed with me bc he said the ones on the inside of your hand are subject to a lot of wear and tear. In the end I wish I’d just paid for a full band, because it spins around so much that sometimes you can’t see any diamonds anyway, and the wear and tear would be equal across the band so I don’t think you’d end up with one side of diamonds missing or anything like that. If you can’t afford a full, a half is very nice (and really it’s not hard for me to adjust it so the diamonds face out, how lazy would you have to be to be bothered by that) but if you’re not super tight on budget I’d go the full.

Haven’t gotten mine yet but am thinking of getting a half way prong set eternity band. I work with my hands a lot as a physical therapist and feel like a full eternity would just get really dirty and gross. I do love the look of a full band though!

A partial eternity band is also handy (pardon the pun…I have a real touch for them. :P) if you ever need to get the ring resized. Much easier. And like AsB said, it prevents the stones on the inside of your hand from getting banged up. Partial eternity is practical all around. 🙂

I just have diamonds half way and then beautiful etching on the other half. That way, it’s not so obvious where the diamonds stop. Unless people look closely, they think I have diamonds all the way around.

well if your saving on money then maybe do a half eternity band now and later they can always make it into a full eternity band. My sister just had her two bands made into eternity bands and they look awesome. Another thing if your rings are soldered together your rings should move around that much and if your ring fits your finger correctly it shouldn’t be turning to much on your finger. Either way i like both ways!!! do you have pics of the bands your lookng at picking?

I’m wanting a half eternity. I would just be paranoid of losing the stones on the backside all the time.

I have full eternity just cuz we got an amazing deal on amazon!! I love it because it looks so awesome alone, but I tried on half bands and they are also beautiful. If you’re more comfortable with the half, go for it!! They’re gorgeous either way!

ooops i meant to say your rings :”shouldn’t” move around that much

wow! thanks everyone for the quick replies. I think i want the option of wearing just my wedding band sometimes (like when I go to the gym) and not soldering them together, but I hear that most brides have this thought initially and end up more often than not soldering them anyway.
@amanda44: – here are a few pics I’m considering. I have a trellis style engagment ring (so basically a solitaire) and I like the idea of a plain e-ring band w/ a sparkly wedding band 🙂

I used to think I wanted a full eternity band, because I think they are beautiful and I liked the symbolism. However, after trying on all kinds of wedding bands, I ended up getting a half-eternity band, not because of cost, but because I found it much more comfortable. The full bands are a bit thicker on the sides (between your fingers) and I found the diamonds and prongs against the insides of my adjacent fingers to be much more uncomfortable than the plan gold sides of my half-eternity band. It was a bit awkward to close my fingers completely with the full band.
That said, both the pictures you posted are BEAUTIFUL! If you try them on and that doesn’t bother you, either of the rings you posted would be a lovely choice.

I got half for a couple reasons. I wanted to get the inside engraved with our wedding date, so I needed that blank half. I wanted to be able to resize it easier if need be, and it was part of a set with my engagement ring, so to get a full I would have had to actively try to seek one out. If you’re worried about it spinning around, you could always get it soldered to your engagement ring (though I’m not).

both my engagement ring and wedding band are eternity (half). like Neva said, the full bands would have been uncomfortable between my fingers. the half is very comfy and still gorgeous, though!

I’ve tried on full eternity and I thought they were uncomfortable. I hope to find a 1/3 or 1/2 eternity that i like.
