@daydream: The ones where the diamonds go all the way around the band.
Mine is a 3/4 eternity band, which means there's no diamonds on the back. Those were the diamonds I was worried about, so hopefully it works out :o)
I have an eternity band. One stone fell out the first day, but that was purely acidental. They had to size it smller, and when they did they missed one set of prongs when they were re-tightening them. Luckily I found the diamond on the floor at work (what are the odds of that?!) and it was back in and re-tightened the same day. No issues since! My jeweler did suggest that I come in and have it checked every few months just to be safe. Mine is a shared prong eternity.
Mine is, too - I sure hope I don't have problems - my jeweler lives 1000 miles away! :) I love the look though and if you don't have a very active / hands on job, should be ok.
@kellyv, you had it resized?? I have heard from several sources that that's one of the major downsides/things to consider about eternity bands -- that they can't be resized, so if your finger size changes over the years, you'll be out of luck. How was that not true in your case?
I think it really depends on the integrity of the setting. What sort of setting do you have?
kellyv: ohhhh is your ring on louboutin's?? i loooove it!! soooo pretty=) ohh, and you were able to resize ur ring??
Hi guys! @ littlemissmango and melv - I thought the same thing, because that is all I kept hearing. my jeweler said it wasnt an issue to do with my setting. He used to be a jeweler for Tiffany's so I trusted his judgement. They simply cut out one of the "baskets" that the stone sits in and soldered it back together. I was worried about it, he said they do it all the time with my type of eternity band. I'd imagine some of them cannot be resized, but they did to mine. No issues since!
Yep the rings are on my wedding day Louboutins. Love that picture =o)
My band is a half eternity band? So they're halfway around? I didn't want any on the underside b/c I want my ering band and my wedding band to match there. I told the jeweler I wanted shared prongs and he said that he wouldn't do that b/c it's not as strong. So there are double prongs - but they're so close together that they look like one to me.
I do science so I wear gloves in the lab all day and I didn't want to lose a diamond or my entire ring to a biohazard bin.
