(Closed) Etiquette question: gift received before the wedding

Gifts received before the wedding should, if possible, have thank yous sent out before the wedding.

Carting it with you for appearances would be weird…

We received nearly all our gifts before our out-of-state wedding. (Dear friends and family: thank you, we barely had enough space in the car as it was.) Our thank-you notes incorporated our favorite wedding picture, so we will be sending them all in one fell swoop! And don’t bother hauling the gift along — unless it’s enormous, it’s not going to make that much difference, and it’ll be one more thing for someone to coordinate.
