So, two days ago I was in a car accident. I’m ok, my car is not. It was totaled. Today I get an invoice for the down payment on my veil. I’m in a little bit of a sticky situation. Seeing as I have to buy a new car, this month is going to be tight. I have a $3000 bonus coming from work next month, but how do I tell the Etsy seller I can’t afford her anymore this month but can pay in full next month. I don’t want to piss her off and make her think I’ve been jerking her around, but I also need the money I was going to spend on the veil to take care of the car situation. So Etsy selling ladies, how do I tell the veil lady this? How do I keep her from thinking I’ve wasted her time. I’m so scared she won’t want to work with me now.

I’d tell her just what you explained to us!! It’s a legit reason, and hopefully she’ll understand. You’re her customer, and you could have easily chosen someone else!

She is an extremely nice lady, but I’m still scared she will think I’ve been wasting her time. I just need a couple weeks but still…

I think you just need to be completely honest with her like you were in your post here on WB.

Ok this is what sent:
Thank you so much for your concern. I was not hurt badly but my car was totaled and I need a new one.
I know you sent me the invoice but with the accident this month is going to be tight. I do get a $3000 bonus from work next month and will happily pay you in full then if you are willing – no deposit just the full payment. I in no way expect you to start the veil in the mean time, just hoping you can/are willing to put my order on hold for a couple weeks until I get the car situation figured out. I also don’t expect you to rush it once I do make the payment. You can take your time and fill any other orders that come in in the mean time.
I am so sorry for this inconvenience to you. I really hope you don’t think I have been wasting your time, because, like I said I will pay you in full once I get the bonus.
I am so sorry for all of the trouble with my order. I feel terrible having to ask you to put it on hold. You have been an amazing vendor and I truly appreciate your patience. Let me know if this is ok and you can send me an invoice for the full $450 whenever (I wish I could tip you).
