Can anyone post pictures of their rings purchased through Etsy and possibly list the shops they used? Etsy seems to be the place to go for unique and affordable, but online pictures can be deceving–would love to hear some good and bad feedback about shops, personal experiences, and see the lovely rings!
Some of these online prices seem too good to be true…and you know what they say about THAT 😉
(Note: My boyfriend and I are looking for something untraditional–possibly purple/mauve colored sapphire, but feel free to share any stone!)
Thanks in advance!

I got my husband’s ring off etsy, it’s not really what you’re looking for because it has not stones or anything, but the girl I went through was awesome to work with. She only used recycled materials, so I sent her a bunch of old busted gold jewelry, and she used it to make his ring. It was also a custom order, so I chose a similar base ring to set the price, and then had her make modifications to it. We have no pictures from the etsy shop since it was custom, but I can show you what his ring looks like.
It was made by christine bossler on etsy.

I got my engagement ring from NodeformWeddings. It was a great experience. She tweaked a few things in a design for me, and was great at communicating through that. The finished product is gorgeous – even better than the photographs. I highly reccomend.
My wedding ring is from the shop metalicious. I have not recieved the order yet, but the shop owner was great with communication, and she is as nice as can be. Her products are gorgeous. She is taking about four weeks to make my ring, but she was more than happy to do a rush order if my wedding was sooner.

@birchwood29: i had my ring done by Patti Collins of Denim and Diamond. Here’s her etsy storefront:http://www.etsy.com/shop/DenimAndDiaJewelry . She was awesome to work with and is casting a mystic pink heart shaped pendant for me in a couple weeks. 🙂

My fi got my engagement ring from Kate Szabone on etsy. her work is a beautiful mix of nature inspired and art nouveau designs. I am in love with his choice and it is exactly what you see online. Mine is an 1.2 cts. equiv. antique square moissanite and champagne diamond halo ring in 14k white gold. the quality and workmanship appears to be top knotch. The moissy is stunning. I tried to include a photo where you can see the colour contrast between the moissy and the champagne diamonds.

Yay! Etsy! I LOVE my etsy ring. The shop my FI got mine from is AJMartin Jewelry. He has some beautiful stuff, sent me an appraisal upon request and even gave me suggestions for a wedding band (which is hard sometimes with vintage rings). All in all I had a very lovely experience. 🙂

@XmasBride2014: oh, I love your ring! So classically vintage. Congrats.

Just be aware that if you want something unique, one of a kind or hand-made, while Etsy uses that as its tagline, there are a lot of mass producers and chinese resellers on Etsy. Not everything is hand made or one of a kind. Lots of times they will buy up cheap settings and fill them with whatever they can find and send them out.
If that’s not important to you, then I wouldn’t really worry about buying off Etsy.
Research your seller, check their feedback and location. Google their names to see if people have blogged them.

We purchased from Eidel Precious this past week. Her responses were short but all my questions were answered in a timely manner. I am anxiously awaiting a pear peach champagne sapphire set in 14k rose gold and halo. My ring will be shipped on Monday. i can hardly stand the wait!

It is kind of hit and miss in my opinion. We tried to order my engagement ring on etsy. Ordered it, and sent it back because of the poor craftsmanship. We went with another online vendor that was bigger, and the ring we got worked out.
We also tried to order our wedding bands on etsy. The first set we got were not the correct specs. We returned. The second set the color was off. Went with another vendor, and had some issues with quality control. Had to have one of the rings replaced not once but two times because they messed up, and would send us the mess up. Finally got it straightened out the third time around, which took a lot of persistence. The vendor was nice, just… not on top of it. We are very happy now that things are straightened out.
My advice: If you order on etsy, be sure you know their return policy. And it might make sense to look at the vendors customer reviews. And don’t order something too expensive because you may very well be disappointed. With that said, I do love to support small businesses, and I think there are a lot of unique things on there. I will order jewelry from etsy in the future. Just nothing terribly expensive.

@birchwood29: I’ve had great luck with Etsy so far (I know that’s not the case for everyone!). We went with ObsessoriesStudios – I’ve had my ring for about a year and I still catch myself staring at it 🙂 The main thing I learned with Etsy is that almost all sellers are more than willing to work with you to customize something (like if you see a ring, and want a different stone, they usually have the connections to find it for you). Good luck!
