They have an eBay store too, with pretty good reviews. I feel like there should be a catch too, though.

dar7:  So far the only reviews they have on their Etsy store are for ring sizers. I wouldn’t buy from them unless you are able to visit their actual store.

dar7:  That’s not weird at all, I’m the same way! Jewelry is a hobby of mine that I plan on turning into a business one day 🙂

dar7:  and anyone else interested in purchasing from Bennett Jewelers on Etsy or his Ebay Store: BEWARE! This seller is a scam artist. My fiance and I agreed to purchase a diamond ring which was listed on ebay for $3700 and had beautiful pictures attached, and even a video showing what he said was the “actual product.” What arrived from overseas, Isreal to be exact, despite his ebay store showing a NYC address, was beyond horrific. It didn’t even look like a diamond, it was so cloudy and horrible I cried for days because our wedding was only 2 weeks away as we decided to elope in Vegas. It has been a nightmare trying to get my money back. Not only did he try to upsell us to another diamond claiming he would help us out, when he realized we wanted our money back began to go off the deep end and claimed we must be a competitor trying to drive him out of business, after I posted a horrible review on Ebay. He went as far as threatening litigation. We are just a normal couple who were sold false goods, and this guy continues to get away with it. He claimed we should have known what we were purchasing- I’m sorry! I go off of pictures that are posted as the actual item. I am a saavy ebay shopper, especially when it comes to jewlery, and have never experienced anything like this. To top it off, despite my overnighting the item back to his “company” for $80 he has refused to cooperate with my Amex credit card and has successfully tied up those funds on my credit line to present date. I have spent hours on the phone between Paypal, Ebay, and Amex trying to clean up this jerk’s lies. Our credit line was tied up so much we had a very hard time even getting another ring in time for the wedding. What goes around comes around- I urge anyone reading this to stay very far away from Bennett Jewelers or D Bennett Jewelers on Ebay. He is a SCAM ARTIST!

Hi,

Alicia jmc I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. We have just purchased a ring from Bennett jeweler. Is there any chance you could post a pic of your ring? Im so worried about mine now! We ordered a solitaire 1.25 carat. What did you purchase?

Thanks for your time

I had a ring purchased for me from this seller. My fiance had not done his research and had no idea what he was doing. He also trusts people FAR too easily, and, after extensive email conversations with the seller, felt that he was getting a genuinely good deal (even though he initially thought it was too good to be true). I knew the diamond wasn’t what the report said, so took it to a local jeweller for an appraisal (thankfully, it needed to be resized). He took it to a GIA diamond grader who LAUGHED at it. Aside from being about an I3 (not the SI1 that we were told it was), the ring was also poorly made, the diamond had a chip out of the bottom of it and a clearly visable black spot (SI1 is meant to be eye clean, this diamond DEFINITELY is not). As it was outside the 30 day returns policy for the seller, we applied for a refund through Paypal and were successful for almost 100% of the purchase price, without even needing to return the ring. Even if you’re ok with a clarity enhanced diamond, I’d steer clear of this seller, as you cannot expect to get what you’re paying for. He also tried to upsell us another ring, telling us he had GIA certified diamonds, if we weren’t happy. Not a chance were we dealing with him again. I also noticed one day on ebay that two people gave negative feedback, the next day, it had changed to positive (I didn’t even think that was possible? Dodgy). And if you look at the reviews, most of them are for 1 cent velvet bags, not for actual rings. Just like aliciajmc, I cried and cried and cried over this whole ordeal. I never thought my engagement would be such a sad, stressed and anxious time. So relieved my fiance got his money back. I hope this seller grows a conscience one day.

davidbennett:  You should edit personal names out of your post as well as their emails shown in the picture. I’m not sure any users would be comfortable having their full names and contact info shared on a message board.

davidbennett:  Typically you will hit edit and then remove anything in your post. The time to edit could have expired so you may need to contact an admin.

I was mainly referring to the paypal picture and the part in your own words where you wrote out a user’s full name and her husband’s.

The other reviews are screennames or first name only so I’m not sure if those would be against privacy rules, you should ask an admin for that probably.

In the future you can use paint, Photoshop, or any other image editor to block out names, case numbers, and personal details.
